Last week they did, in Richmond Texas. Must have gotten a few cases in.

Was out last Friday to get some groceries, stopped into my favorite Academy to peruse the (lack of?) ammo and was shocked to see the shelves lined with Monarch Brass and Monarch Steel cased 9mm and lots of Monarch brass .38spl.

The scary part is, when I gestured to the clerk and pointed to the Monarch Brass in 9mm, he in a reflex move with one hand grabbed 5 boxes, before I even specified an amount. I nodded thinking, "Well I just got paid, whats $ 50 for ammo?" (Brass was $10/box, Steel $8/box). I also picked up a box of .38 spl.

Hadn't even made it to the grocery store yet, and here I was buying some ammo ahead of food. How pathetic is that? Eventually I did go food shopping, but ended up buying alot of pasta for the week ahead to stay in budget. I figure you can live forever on that stuff.

But at least I can put in some trigger time on a day off. :D

Yea, I stopped by the Academy in Round Rock last week. Same situation. But they had a sign up saying because of the run on ammo, they were limiting a buyer to 10 boxes/day. I bought my 10 ( 200 rds of 223 ). That won't take long to burn through at the range. But haven't felt it necessary to go back for more. Everybody's looking, don't need to get grabby.

My favorite Academy alway has several cases of 9mm Monarch Brass behind the shelf. One of the benefits of living near the Port of Houston and Academy's main distribution warehouse. WWB are $12.50 compared to $10.50 for MB.

^^^

You know, I didn't even think that living near the Port of Houston gave us a bit of an advantage. Mind you, if an advantage does exisit, it has been kinda low key the last couple of months. Only recently can I almost count on getting some ammo when I drop in at Academy.

But I NEVER see any .45 - at Academy, Wal-Mart or whereever. Which is sort of a good thing as I've been eyeing this G30 they have at Academy like some people would look at at a steak menu in a restaurant.

But if you can't (or have excess trouble) finding the ammo to enjoy it, no point in dropping the coin to get it - yet!

I see trucks hauling containers out to their central warehouse at I-10 and Mason Rd constantly. I do not know how many cases of ammo a container would hold but it is alot. Thank goodness for our Serbian brothers. Carters Country has plenty of .45's but at nearly $40 a box, they will always have plenty.

Yeah, to add to that. last time I was in Carters Country they had 9mm WWB FMJ's for $18/per box. LOTS of them! Since I didn't have a sign around my neck marked "Sucker" I didn't buy any.

I'll bet they still have lots of 9mm left - no surprise at those prices. Whick is kinda too bad as a few years back CC actually had decent ammo prices, good selection, weekly specials etc.
