ATF attempting to shut down largest home-based FFL in Texas

We all know Dogtown Tom tends to be a bit abrasive, yes, and actually seems to defend the ATF more often than not in these kinds of threads. He’s also a gun dealer in Texas. If he says this is ATF overreach I’m inclined to believe it.

I don’t know specifics of this dealer’s case (I doubt any of us do) but clerical errors are awfully easy to make when filling out government forms hundreds or thousands of times. It should be extremely concerning to all of us when an honest man’s livelihood is threatened by a government agency.

Hold on. I don't defend ATF ever. They should not exist.
I will EXPLAIN ATF regulations, but someone would be a fool to think that an explanation somehow equals agreement.

We just had a good store in my area close their doors recently .

Heard the reason was clerical errors .

Shame going to miss that place .

They were around for a long time

Indeed you are correct. All seem to have the same source. Washington Gun Law guy Kirk tends to recycle stuff like this, but at least called and talked to the guy.

There are always more facts than we are given. My LGS confirms that the pressure is on, and the IOI feels that same pressure.

I’m not buying this YouTube story.
1) it’s YouTube
2) there are no other credible news sources with this story
3) from what I have seen, this YouTuber constantly tried to make mountains from mole hills just to promote his channel
4) in 2021 and 2022, the ATF has closed 11 of 11,000 Texas FFLs (that's 1/10 of 1%, certainly no need for any panic)
5) an FFL holder actually needs to be able to see to properly conduct business
Based upon these facts, there is no way I would send this guy any money.
You mean everything on You-Tube isn't ... The Truth , The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth ...
Oh Man ... who would have thought they would make fake stuff up and post it ...

Yeah ... I'm with you on this one ... something smells .

That depends upon the issue at hand.
Too many people cry wolf for help, especially when they were wrong and got busted for their mistake.
It seems interesting that the actual owner cannot see properly and has his wife doing paperwork when the license is not even in her name.
I don’t know details other than the extremely limited sources here, but it smells like bad skunk.
The fact that there is now fundraising is concerning, but fools are parted from their money every day.
I still would not send this guy even a bad nickel.

Have you ever been to Walmart and bought a gun there? The employee that does the paperwork and transfer isn't listed on the FFL, either. The licensed FFL needs at least one responsible person but employees can conduct business on behalf of the licensed dealer.

I had an ATF inspection recently and it wasn't something very enjoyable. Should the ATF ask me to surrender my license for any minor clerical error, I will simply not surrender it voluntarily. Should the ATF decide to revoke my FFL, I will then happily surrender my U.S. citizenship, sell everything and take my money to a much nicer place with better health insurance and considerably cheaper cost of living. That is the benefit of speaking four languages fluently (none too well) and having multiple citizenships.

Yet I made one phone call and verified that the information in the article is valid.
Did you bother to do so? No, you troll rather than contribute something substantive.
Ho hum.
Of course the clown crying wolf will substantiate his own garbage.
There are still is no verified reporting other than the original article.
It’s still a nothing burger grifter story.

1. The FFL in the article didn't cry wolf.
2. Your ignorance of the requirements to operate as an FFL is laughable.
3. True, you don't know the details, yet called the FFL in the article a grifter. Shame on you.
4. The dealer didn't start the fundraising, one of his customers did.
5. We know you wouldn't send a nickel. No one asked you to.
6. You have 343 posts in twenty one years. Soon you'll disappear for another six months.

Snort.
Been here longer than you, I don’t post BS stories, and I’m smart enough to recognize garbage when I see it.
So he cried the blues to his buddy about how he needed money because he screwed up.
So what. It will be hilarious watching his Karma come home.

Snort.

Dude, you don't post ANYTHING. Its amazing that you've become so invested in this thread, despite averaging little more than one post per MONTH over the last twenty one years.
Epic troll.

I don't know for a fact one way or the other. But put it this way. I wouldn't put it past them to start a sub rosa attrition campaign under the drooling smile of El Presidente. After all, it would be hard to attack the practice since they would only be following the law.

"Ich folgte nur meine Befehlen."

Good to see you, Terry.
It’s been a long time.
I hope that you are well.

Do we have a rule about making posts that just insult other participants?
The truth does sometimes have that effect on people who do not properly research, vet, or verify information prior to posting.
Folks who then get called on their invalidated posts usually get nasty and attack the folks who questioned their information.
It’s a sad state of affairs when posters are unable to accept constructive feedback without losing their cool.

Why do you need to resort to name calling? Is it because you ran out of valid arguments or is that in your personality? It is neither brave, nor is it a positive contribution to this thread to call somebody names from the anonymity of your keyboard who takes the time to explain his postings in detail and has a very good knowledge of all legal aspects of federal firearms licensing.
