So, I got some mail from the BATF today. I literally ran inside and ripped it open. I mailed my SBR form in June. I was disappointed to find, not my tax stamp, but a request for corrections. ARG.
Apparently it is no longer kosher to register an AR lower caliber as "multi"
My question is this....am I going to have to wait another 6 months or does it go to a special corrections line at the ATF? Boy I hope so :)
Thanks
Jason

No worries.

Jason,

No worries. Correct your Form 1's return them to the ATF and you should have them back in a couple weeks. (You don't loose your place in line for paperwork errors.)

Easy.

Regards.

RJ

No "multi" has been around for one or two years. I had one in when they changed, and my examiner called me. 10 day later I had my approved F1.

Not only is "multi" no longer allowed, but you can't list multiple calibers and/or barrel lengths. My most recent were kicked back for this. They were fast turning it around, a week added to the wait.

I had a mistake on my last form as well (can't remember exactly what, but something minor), and I got it back approved within a week or two of sending in the correction. You're almost there! :)

Same thing happened to me over the summer. When you have a correction it gets sent directly back to the examiner handling your paperwork and usually only takes a couple more weeks to come back approved.

As a side note the NFA branch is hiring 9 new examiners so wait times should start decreasing at some point.

The biggest plus we have, with regard to the NFA branch, is that the law is in place, and they MAKE MONEY when they approve the weapons. How many government agencies bring in money? Most of them just spend it.

Given their horrible productivity, I doubt there is any net income after overhead :(

Mine was rejected on December 18th. It was sent back to my dealer, corrected, sent back, approved then mailed to my dealer "good to go" and arrived on January 8th.
