Anyone have any experience or know anything about the ATN (American Technology Network) scopes and rangefinders? Was thinking about picking up the ATN X-Sight II HD day & night scope and one of there Laserballistics range finders? They worth about $599 and $279?

I've read and been told over and over that decent night vision starts at $3k. I can't comment on the veracity of that belief b/c I don't own any night vision and have done very little handling of it.

Ouch! I'd like to have a good night vision scope that would stretch 100-200 yards out and be good enough to actually see the target, but I don't want a scope 3k bad!

they are what you are paying for. i played with x sight 2 at a buddies ranch. been meaning to look for a set of binos that do the same thing in the price range for hunting, since in my area, muleys are 100% nocturnal during hunting season. watching movement will give me an idea where they are bedding for when the sun comes up. anyways, they use the BASICALLY the same tech as a digital camera. Illuminator kind of didnt give a great image past 150y but it did get out to a little over 200. I heard that you can find a better illuminator than cones further out that it should work further. the 123 batteries dont last long in it. the aa batteries dont last very long in the scope itself. theres an app you can take photos and videos that you can pair together to your phone or on a sd card. the ballistic data im picky about and does not work any better or worst than anything else. a note on that: computers dont give you perfect output of ballistic data, you can true it essentially however and it will work just fine. for day time shooting, it zeros like a scope, and holds a zero just fine. Theres a whole bunch of settings and stuff on it that im forgetting. it works if that is what you are wondering, and is good "for the price"
the nightvision is not a gen 2 or higher quality...if that doesnt mean anything to you, then id say it doesnt matter. that is the stuff in the 3k range.

Years ago I ran in to a deal on an ATN rifle scope (no night vision capability) at less than half price. FFP, simple reticle with wind holds and one corner with ranging to 600 yds or whatever on deer size animals, lead free glass, you get the picture.

I called the place, talked to the seller, and he says, paraphrasing, "it's a great concept, awesome features and price, but it sucks. 1/3 returned defective and the dirtiest glass he'd ever seen".

Same guy sold me my first Sightron that day at a better price and from that suggestion I believe he knew what he was talking about. Nothing comes for free so beware the too good to be true "deal".

They are garbage. I sold them in a wholesale capacity and my customers would have tons of returns. Maybe 25% failure rate. I hated selling them.

If you have to have NV, get a Sightmark Photon. Also crappy, but will let you play Desert Storm.
