I went to Wally World today to pick up a couple of things and check ammo prices. I always check the long guns that they have on sale and they have Rem 700 ADL's in 243 and 270 for $300. I thought that was a real deal for a new 700! :)

Saw the same, they also have the short little Rem youth 243's for $300, I have called around to several trying to find one of these in 308. They say they make them, but no one local seems to have one. :banghead: I may go ahead and pick up one of the 700's in 30-06, but would love to have one of the short little .308's for a trunk gun.

Picked up a 30-06 a couple of weeks ago. There is a $30 rebate on these as well so that makes the deal even better.

wally world out hear in northern illinois dont sell guns anymore. their starting to conform to the communist way of thinking. sam walton is spinning in his grave. those basterds.

According to our local walmart outdoor department. "Only the top 1,000 Walmarts (in total sales) still carry firearms." and in the next couple of years it is supposed to downsize to the top 500 then 250 and so on until no Walmart is selling firearms. The manager said that it won't affect ammunition sales, just no more guns.

I don't know how accurate that statement is, but it's what I was told because the Walmart 30 minutes away still sells guns but not the one in town.

It has nothing to do with communism. It has to do with money. The stores that didn't sell X amount of money worth of guns each year had them pulled. Our local store quit selling, and it was incredibly obvious why. They hardly ever had anything different in there because no one bought anything from them. And another part of there lack of sales was selection. I livein Illinois as well, and they always had some rifles in 30-30, 270, 30-06. Now we can't hunt with rifles here in this state so why on earth would they actually sell to begin with?

Well that's a new one.

Agreed, its a money thing. It wouldn't suprise me to see them become a seasonal item, popping up around hunting season and being clearanced out by Christmas. No one serious into shooting really shops at Wal-Mart, and not a lot of money is going to be brought in on the few dozen sales come hunting time.

Is this the ADL with laminated stock and polished bluing or the plastic stock and matte finish?

Mine was Matte with syn. stock. They had some with iron sights and some w/o. I opted for no sights on the '06.

They also have Win. model 70's @ our Wally worlds with a package scope deal for $350. I think they had one left in 7mag and one in .243. They were also Matte/syn. finish.

My FIL picked up a 30-06 last Month for $250...they had a couple 270's the night before for $225...(shoulda, but didn't need it)

I haven't seen firearms in a California WalMart for years.

They still have great pistol ammunition prices though.

As far as I know no WalMart in CA sells guns anymore, I'm fairly certain that isn't because of a lack of sales.
The rumors floating around about that involve some CA store(s) being rather sloppy with their handling of the Form 4473. :uhoh:

That's not looked upon with favor by the ATF crowd and rather than mess with all the folderol necessary to fix the problem the Wally World execs just said screw it and pulled guns out of their stores in CA.

That's the rumor anyway... :scrutiny:
