Does anyone have any idea where in Austin you can get the best price for selling your guns? I've been juggling stuff too long and still don't have a job. This seems to be the only way to raise cash. I know pawn shops won't give you much, but what about McBride's or Cabela's?

1. Try to sell them at the gun show? I only have sold 2 guns at shows (and none at the local shops), but I got what I wanted for them at the shows. I believe there is one this weekend.

2. Let us Austin THRers know what you have, maybe one of us is interested in what you have and can strike a fair deal with you?

A friend of mine recently sold a gun to McBrides while simultaneously purchasing a new one. He said they gave him a fair price.

Not sure how that'll apply to going there just to sell, but thought I'd mention it since it's recent news.

Good luck,

Gunshows in the area will give you a considerably better price. I took two I wanted to get rid of to a pawn shop and had them pitch an offer. I then sold them to actualy gun stores who had booths at a gun show and made $100 more in total between the pair. Considering these were only $200-$300 guns, that's quite a bit more money.

Also, lots of guns trade hands in the area. Put it up for sale for FTF only in Austin Texas.

Basically, when you're selling a gun, more hassle = more $$$

Wow, my experience with the Austin gunshow has been the opposite. Are you talking Austin or do you live somewhere else? Private sales are always best as they aren't worried about buying it to resell just is it a fair value for what they want.

I sold a rifle and a pistol at the Austin shows (at different times, not at the same time). Had a little "For sale" flag sticking out of the barrel of the rifle and little sign pinned to me for the pistol while walking around and sold them to private persons. Yeah, looked like a total dork, but it was effective :D .

Some dealers tried to really lowball, but some were near my minimum price, and probably would have sold to them if I hadn't found the private persons by the time I wanted to leave. You just have to not let all the lowball offers offend you ... go in there realizing you WILL get 25 lousy offers before you get a good one.

First off, PM me and let me know what you have *grin*!

Second, SAXET is in town this weekend. I do the same thing elric does, just carry around whatever I want to sell with a big sign on my back. Sign has to be pretty simple, you wouldn't believe how much trouble folks have understanding a sign.

But do shoot me a PM first, see if we can talk shop.

I'm probably looking to sell my Beretta 92FS, an HK P2000 9mm, and my :sob: Kimber Ultra Carry. I would post them online herre, but that's a little more time intensive than I am able to do right now. This is really not something I want to do.

Email me on the Beretta details. Didn't you have a SAA at one time also?
I try to feel like I'm not married to my guns also and it's hard, you will get replacements & definitely not the end of the world.

I don't know of any good places other than perhaps the gun show. You will alway get more money from an individual than a dealer, since we can usually buy brand new guns from a distributor for about what used guns tend to sell for.

If you can't sell them FTF in Austin and you end up posting them online, I'll ship them for you through the post office in the Priority flat rate box for shipping cost ($8.10) and wave the transfer fee since you're out of work.

Good luck with the sale, and I'm sorry to hear that it is neccesary.

Just advertise the item on this site, AR15.com, glocktalk, the XD, Beretta, Sig, Walther and S&W websites. Between all of those, I always seem to sell thing in my area of Texas.

mmmm

I think you'll get a better price on a FTF sale, but you'll be more likely to move it quickly at cabelas in Buda, who are known to buy used guns.
