Handguns are all illegal in Australia, with the ONLY exceptions being for LEO's and other ruling class members, and anyone who can convinced the powers that be that they really need a firearm.

OK! For the record .Hand guns are legal in australia . Min barrel lenght Semi auto 5", Revolver 4". For normal shooting events. Max cal of 357. This varies To alowing up to .45cal for sass and metalic sil.The only people who may use a hand gun in anyother place than a pistol Club/Range are Farmers .Mag cap of Semi autos is 10!

Here in Auz we have suffered Two firearms "buy Backs" the first being the Ban on Semi auto Rifles/shotguns& Pumpaction shotguns!(as A pro shooter none of this effected me) Yet Members of clay target clubs ,Farmers & some Pro shooters are still allowed to own these "Prohibited Weapons"(I prefer tool of my trade) .The second was the Hand Gun buyback.I still own two super Black hawkes in .44mag ,I still go to the Range & shoot !

The truth of the matter is when there's a shooting here in Auz it go's front page for day's.And yes the Media lap up any thing to do with "The Outlawed Bikie Gangs"(This term amazes me"Outlawed" dose that not mean unlawful ,erm not Legaly permited? )

Look what it boils down to is that a couple of dickheads tried to be big he men with hot guns. They got caught! Good Job ! so why bother splashing it all over the world ? At the end of the day who cares? apart from the Anti gun lobby?

Hey at the end of the day I happen to like Living in Auz & I choose not to live near any major cities!This is not cause I fear for my life Or that I feel that I have to carry a gun for my own protection (If I lived in a situation that I had to I would willingly do so & God help anybody that took that right from me)It is the Idiots who live in the cities that I dislike I prefer to be working on the edge of the desert or the Nullubour Plain than have to put up with the crap of the cities!

Deciple, we realize you are one of us gun nuts, but the laws you cite are absolutely abhorrent to American shooters. It's not even as bad as you describe in California, which is the proving ground for absurd American gun laws. (They have to be proven not to work here first before they can be enacted in New York and Massachusetts.) To us, for all practical purposes handguns are banned in Australia.

I see where your comming from Tim ! WESTERN AUSTRALIA has the most .Horrifing Restrictions in Australia .There are 2 clsification of rifle .(a) low power which covers Mv of upto 1750fps &(B ) high power .To obtain a low power licence The shooter must have ,a letter from a property owner to shoot on his property.High power is 3 letters ,as in the above .A shooter may get a Range only permit for either .But it comes down to the mood of the issuing constable wether the shooter gets his/her permit ! Many years ago I took on a contract shooting Dingos & Camals with the Wa Gov .On crosssing the border I was almost aressted for having in my possetion severil "High Powered " Weapons .It took several phone calls to various Gov departments to clear the matter up ! With a Final warnning from the Police involved that I would be under close scuteny for the time I was their side of the Border !
I thanked them for their concern & made their lives a thougher Misery for the time I was there ! By contacting them by Radio several times a day to let them Know my exact location so in the event they needed me they knew where to find me !

30 cal . I was never a drinker who frequented the (I LOV THIS NAME) Beer boutquites in Auz . As they tended to frown on us Boys from the bush ! So I made a phone call to my Yuppie son (gets it from his mother's side of the family :banghead: ) He tells me that it is a popular beer as anything from the US is considered the Ant's pants down here ! But from what I've gathered Fosters is considered a fancy import beer in other countries .Yet it would be hard to find anybody in their right mind who would drink the Swill down here

Haha, it seems that attitude towards domestic beers is the same everywhere.

Budweiser sucks, so does Foster's but we get it in giant cans here which is kind of an interesting novelty..

I know I'm going to cop more flack ,than a F18 over Bagdad ,from my fellow Aussies here .But the Problem we have is that we're all very complasant people down here until something happens then the hive really gets stirred up . After Pt Aurther .The Priminister said Ok No more semi auto rifles /shot guns !!!!!!!!!!! Yes there were Public protests & yes there was open outrage ! Then there was an Election & the Party who had ,dis armed the average Voter got back into power ! .Of course all the shooters were slightly pissed about this .In fact they wrote to all of the shooting Magizines & vented their opinons to other Shooters .only a small minority (such as myself & a lot of other Pro shooters .whom it is to be remembered that the New restrictions have had no effect on us what so ever ! wrote /rang our MPs wanting to know what the hell was going on & vented our displeasure) The media In Auz is totaly Anti firearms .Most of our localy produced Tv is Anti firearms & will not hesitate to "Bash" a Firearms Issue .We have the SSAA a smaller verstion of your NRA but with nowhere near the power over the Gov that you as Shooters have . :banghead:
