Auto accident! have you planned it out?

From another direction, as a retired NYS LEO, at our annual re-qualification and training sessions, we were warned that in case of an accident, we were not to turn our firearms over to anyone but a police officer. I have a feeling being unconscious would not have been an acceptable excuse lol

Unfortunately, I am familiar with cases of expensive watches being removed from injured and deceased accident victims by various first responders.

Uh, well, pray tell, let's see some documentation of these actual statistics then, because I'm not aware of any "statistics" on what groups of people in which occupational fields we're "better off trusting."
When did I say anything about certain occupational fields being more trustworthy? Last I checked, "CHL/CCW holder" wasn't an occupation. I'll look it up again at some point. Basically, CCW holders have a lower felony rate than police officers, which, theoretically, could be viewed by some as meaning they're more trustworthy, in general. The point is, I don't trust anyone I don't know, regardless of what they do for an occupation.

I get your drift. Being realistic isn't the same as being "anti" though. There's no particular reason to trust an LEO any more than you would anyone else. Actually, statistically, you'd be better off trusting someone with a CCW than you would an LEO.
REALLY ?.

Well I am not sure how many CCW'ers have taken an OATH to uphold the laws.

Or how many have intentionally RUN toward gunfire.

So I hope your next accident is taken over by a CCW'er ,and not an LEO who you don't trust as much !!.

Drive very defensively when transporting firearms (which is not to say that you don't do that anyway). I would go so far as to say to take back roads, avoid the Interstates and congested areas, etc. Also plan your trip in detail ahead of time, identifying trouble spots, etc. In extreme cases, have a buddy follow you in an escort car. I've had to do this on several occasions when transporting machine guns.
Not me. Not ever.

My guns serve me, I don't serve my guns.

I make the yearly 3000 mile round trip from New England to Florida annually by auto. Some years twice a year. Just such a thing is always on my mind.
That and age has made me a more cautious driver.

I’m an EMT and while there’s no formal training in firearms retrieval it has gotten discussed in monthly CE’s. If no responsible and willing uninjured family member is available then we simply turn it over to LE. On the rare occasion that they aren’t present and we need to go right then I’ve just turned it over to the police at the hospital.

Then again on a lot of our calls people are armed or there are pistols and long guns in vehicles. So it might be more of a thing here then in some parts of the country.

OK THEN = please do call one INSTEAD of bothering the dirty cop.

And if you don't do that,your a hypocrite !!.

Wasn't it Twain who said "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics?" I can find "statistics" to support any position I take on any issue, such as "Why Democrats are so much smarter than Republicans."

The stats on this have been debunked for quite a while. Using the number of concealed gun license revocations in two states vs. cop criminal charges is invalid methodology. While we'd all love to believe CPL/CHL/CCW holders are so saintly, the facts do not support that assertion.

If you were to ask around here I as well as most would be overwhelmingly PRO LE so that was not my intention on starting this thread!!!:what: It is no wonder that we can not get along with the other side as we tend to fight among ourselves it seems. Over it. Need a lock
