Just wondering if there are any affordable models of clay thrower out there that can be activated with like, a foot pedal, or timer or anything? I have no idea about clays, looking to get into it. Really I just want something to toss clays so I can first get used to hitting the things.

I have the Trius One-Step mentioned above. It works reasonably well - will pitch the clay a pretty good distance. Mine won't throw to the left very well, but straight-away and right it's fine. Not real good at doubles, but I don't do doubles anyway. It does give you a way to practice by yourself. It takes a little getting used to to mount the gun and step down on the release, but I think it's worth the $100. You can sometimes find it on sale for $89. I will eventually get an auto, but this is a cheap way to get started.

I bought an Atlas several years ago. Probably the best gun related item I've ever bought. Very well made. Thorws clays good. Good speed, both velocity and cyclic rate. We've got a lot of good use and good times out of it.

Comes with a push button release. I got the foot controller also (great for one person shooting). And the remote controll trigger, don't bother with this option. It's not very durable.

The machine is on an Atlas pivoting base. (Well worth the money.) The next addition will be the wobbler. Then maybe a second thrower.
