avoiding double charges

Visual inspection would not work with 16 grs. of 2400 in the bottom of the 308 case.

You could fix that by even smaller charges of a faster powder that’s just much more bulky. 11 grains of trailboss will fill a 308 case half full and what I use for my cast and coated “backyard” lead bullet loads.

Trail Boss: I'm loading 308 rounds for lead bullet matches. Using 2400 has be successful and is a "go to" load for testing cast bullets. Sure enough there could be better choices if filling a case were the goal. I have been experimenting with Red Dot also with the lead bullets. Same problem with another small charge at the bottom of a bottle neck 30 caliber case. On my 550 loading handgun ammo it's go slow and pay attention.

But the part that detects the powder charge is just a Dillon powder check die I connected to the switch.

It’s normally a tone alarm, I always test them and the low primer alarm every 100, like this.

Who's bullet feeder are you using? It looks like the bullet seats at the bullet feed station? So you don't loose a station to the bullet feeder?

Very nice setup! Does the bullet feeder add much time to changing calibers?

The bullet feeder is a tool head that GSI sold but is no longer in production. They fed and seated at #4 and are my favorite bullet feeders. They didn’t make a collator when they first came out so I always built my own. They did eventually come out with a collator but it wasn’t that good only ones I messed with were friends that didn’t want to work with certain bullets.

The way I use them, it doesn’t add much time at all, as the collator stays with the tool head. Same two pins o remove and replace.
