I had the all-steel version; it ate everything I fed it. I sold it because I get bored with it but that's not a commentary on the pistol.
I have a notion to replace it some day, but I have a S&W 4006 TSW which fills the same role for me. Anyway, I would be surprised if the polymer-frame version isn't 100% reliable. One disadvantage may be that IMI/IWI/XYZ used to supply only one mag with new pistols, so I hope they give you at least two these days. Spare mags are often expensive, if you can find them.
You had the III, or the II? The III just started shipping in September of last year, I believe. The compact 45 is ONLY available in steel (which is what I would get anyway, if given the choice). I'm not sure about store purchases, but on the Instructor discount program Kahr ships them with 2 mags. The P45 that I bought last year came with 3, which was nice. Thanks for the reply!
I'm getting convinced that these are rather difficult to find in stock anywhere. I emailed my contact at Kahr to see if that is the case...if they are on backorder, because man, you just don't hear anything about them really.
It fills kind of a weird space, I think. While it's small enough to CCW, it's really heavy, so there are likely better choices if weight is an issue (and isn't it ALWAYS an issue?). I can't picture carrying this instead of the 18.5 ounce P45, which to me is the perfect compact 45 carry option. Light, reliable, slim (as in slimmer than a 1911) high quality, and your pinky isn't hanging off the bottom of the grip, which is a deal breaker for me.
I just figured this compact 45 was the coolest (reasonably priced - I'd love to get the stainless desert eagle in 44 magnum, but it's out of range for me right now) new offering on the instructor program.
