OK....why is it that I can't find any real substantive reviews on this model? Are they just not out there yet? It doesn't seem like anyone has them in stock. I got my new list of firearms on Kahr's 2016 instructor discount list, as I always buy one from them each year, and this one looked like the most interesting new addition to the list, so I ordered one. Their discounts are exceptional (but limited to one per year) so I took a flier and ordered one. They are made in Israel by the same manufacturer that made my DE1911G which is a GREAT shooter. Anyone know much about these? Anyone actually HAVE one? I know they are modeled after the CZ, and look like a real nice, high-quality gun. I kinda wanted to geek out and read some reviews, but man, they just aren't OUT there.

Thanks in advance,

Warner

I had the all-steel version; it ate everything I fed it. I sold it because I get bored with it but that's not a commentary on the pistol.

I have a notion to replace it some day, but I have a S&W 4006 TSW which fills the same role for me. Anyway, I would be surprised if the polymer-frame version isn't 100% reliable. One disadvantage may be that IMI/IWI/XYZ used to supply only one mag with new pistols, so I hope they give you at least two these days. Spare mags are often expensive, if you can find them.

You had the III, or the II? The III just started shipping in September of last year, I believe. The compact 45 is ONLY available in steel (which is what I would get anyway, if given the choice). I'm not sure about store purchases, but on the Instructor discount program Kahr ships them with 2 mags. The P45 that I bought last year came with 3, which was nice. Thanks for the reply!

I'm getting convinced that these are rather difficult to find in stock anywhere. I emailed my contact at Kahr to see if that is the case...if they are on backorder, because man, you just don't hear anything about them really.

It fills kind of a weird space, I think. While it's small enough to CCW, it's really heavy, so there are likely better choices if weight is an issue (and isn't it ALWAYS an issue?). I can't picture carrying this instead of the 18.5 ounce P45, which to me is the perfect compact 45 carry option. Light, reliable, slim (as in slimmer than a 1911) high quality, and your pinky isn't hanging off the bottom of the grip, which is a deal breaker for me.

I just figured this compact 45 was the coolest (reasonably priced - I'd love to get the stainless desert eagle in 44 magnum, but it's out of range for me right now) new offering on the instructor program.

I'm afraid I don't know which generation I had, though it didn't have an accessory rail so it was probably a Mk I. I carried it concealed for about a year, and it is heavy, so a good OWB holster was a must. Still, after an 8 hour work day I was glad to put it back in the safe.

However, I did carry it openly in the woods in a Bianchi M12 holster/pistol belt which was far more comfortable. You might justify the Baby Eagle if you have occasion to do the same in your adventures.

Just seemed like the best bang for the buck on the list. And I'm a sucker for 45 ACP. :)

Thanks again....I'll post what I hear back from Kahr on backlog,

Yep....just got word from my contact at Kahr. The Baby Desert Eagle III 45 Compact is on back order. She says 4-6 weeks. Now THAT'S a "cooling off period" if there ever was one! Hahaha.

Here's one of the FEW stock photos that I could find. I'm guessing they missed their target release date of last September, based on the lack of available information on this model.
