This pistol impressed me with it's solid feel and pointability. How closely related to the CZ 75 is it, and are there any reasons to get the BE over the CZ? I think the grip actually fit my hands better than the large-ish CZ.

But if Magnum Research has a record of quality problems and customer service issues I'll pass.

Thoughts on the gun and the company?

I looked at a .45 today for the first time- nice gun, 10 round mag, seemed solid. I am also curious about the Baby Eagle. I am going to toss the 1911's in the curio and collectible bin with the SSA and trapdoor spring field....

The differences are dustcover shape, slide mounted safety, trigger guard shape, different grip screw location, and cant be carried cocked and locked. Basically just cosmetic differences save the last one. I havent seen any mass produced holsters, but it is just a range gun 99% of the year because it is so heavy IMO. I have carried it before, but I got a 642 so I am spoiled now. Mags are interchangable between CZ, MR, EAA, Tanf, and Sphinx.

I think it is more ergonomic to me than a CZ as well, but the CZ finish is far superior. I bought mine used and all it needed was a new mainspring to fix my stovepipes. It is a great gun and shoots well enough for me. I'm a revolver kinda guy, and this is one of the 2 autos I own, or really have any desire to own. It shoots as good as it looks and is totally reliable and robust. Never had to call MR for anything, but I've heard mostly good reviews of them.

In 9mm I have had absolutely flawless performance. Currently have the 3.5 barrel all steel model in blue that is currently available with the slide mounted safety/decocker, a satin chrome all steel Jericho version (that can be carried locked and cocked), and a 3.9?? inch hard chrome model. All three are good, solid, very accurate shooters. Very ergonomic for my hand. I like the weight. They do only come with 1 magazine. I have ordered magazines from Magnum Research and they ship fast. I have not actually used their customer service department. I can not empasize how much I really enjoy the 9mm all steel models.

I did have a problem with the full size 45 all steel version. Would not feed properly at all. 1 to 2 failures per mag (ICBM failure). Though when it did chamber and fire it was very very accurate. Tried a lot things but never figured out how to get it running properly (different ammo, different mags, etc). This was BEFORE I really understood that you can actually use a warranty that comes with a firearm (the good ole' naive days...or too stupid to know better days). Which is why I can't comment on their customer service department. It was an impulse buy so I shrugged it off and traded it in (with full disclosure where I originally purchased it) on something else. I am not commenting on the entire 45 line. Just the individual one that I had. And at the time I didn't have a lot of experience in the "civilian" world of firearms ownership.

Have not tried a 40 caliber version. Have not tried the polymer version. Gun show this weekend means if I find a great deal I might try 40 or polymer..just because. :)

Fobus makes a holster for them (or did) which can still be located on E-bay. Have not had a custom holster made (yet).

CZ's are hard to find here. Never seen a new one in stock anywhere actually. No direct experience so I can't compare.

"...the grip actually fit my hands better..." That'd be the one to buy then. CZ-75's are BHP clones, but bigger. It's a dandy pistol, but isn't made for people with normal sized hands. Trigger's too far forward.
