I have a friend who's family left him a Baby Frommer Stop in .380. He wants to unload it ASAP and he asked me if I wanted it..

I have seen a video of the .32 version of this thing and was pretty intrigued by it.
This this is in as close to new condition as it can get but I only buy shooters. Will modern factory ammo blow this thing up in my hand?

Also I know the .32 version of this baby Frommer has hangups with modern .32acp because of it actually being made to shoot the Frommer round.
Did Frommer make a proprietary .380 for this round or did they use the traditional .380 so to speak.

Thanks ahead of time for the help with a oddball pistol.

The gun should work fine with modern .380 ammo; in fact, the European ammo it was made for is a bit hotter than the U.S. product.

However, you might consider that the Frommer Baby is a complex mechanism and the gun is a very desireable collectors item, also that parts are not available. I have no idea what he would want for the gun, but unless you want it he might be better selling it on the collectors market.

I traded some ROF Pocket guns for it.

I had some pow'r ball 380 and ran it through it. It ran them all just fine. I Plan on keeping it for a while.

Hurts like a SOB to fire though..

The really neat thing is that the action is long recoil, just like a Browning Auto 5 shotgun. When the gun fires, the barrel and bolt recoil locked together; when they reach the end of the recoil stroke, the barrel is unlocked and comes forward. When the barrel reaches its forward position, the bolt is unlocked and moves forward chambering the next round.

The Frommer Baby was the smallest .380 ever made until the recent flood of small .380 autos, some of which are of comparable size.
