Baby Glocks

Do all the baby glocks have the same long term durability and performance as the full size as I was interested in picking one up in .357sig. But all I ever hear about is the Glock 26. Never the 27 or 33. If I bought the 33 it would be to carry and I practice twice a week with my Glock 20.

Should I move up to the sub compact 32?

The Sub Compact Glock 33 can be a handful, but it is not that bad to shoot.

The 26 is a great gun and very easily controlled, plus it is way more accurate than it should be.

Only you can choose which gun you buy, but make sure to buy the one that you can afford to practice with.

Personally I would choose the compact 32 over the sub compact 33, but then again I have a 19 and my wife has a 26.

They are all good, get one of each.

I used to have a Baby Glock in .40. It was a little bit of a handful to shoot, but not too bad. I HIGHLY recommend you get a 1 rd. mag extension. Not only adds a round, but gives your pinky something to hang onto. Quick follow up shots without one can prove difficult. At least they were for me.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've owned a G33 and trust me, durability isn't even a question. Enjoy!

Question: How do you guys shoot the sub-compacts? It feels unnatural not having anything to hold onto for the pinky. I was told you curve the pinky up under the mag floorplate for more support, but that felt unnatural as well. Do you all put the +1 on your pistols?

I have a G26, and like it, but its not as versatile as the G19, IMO.

The G26 hides a little better than the G19, but you sacrifice ergonomics with the stubby grip. If you put a grip extender on it, then you lose the concealment advantage. For my needs, the slightly larger G19 (compact size) is about perfect. Shoots like a full sized gun, and conceals well enough.

Even with a grip extender on, the subcompacts still feel unnatural to me. The back of the grip is still stubby even if you put a grip extender on (most grip extenders only help with the front of the grip), and the feel of the palm swell doesn't fit me.

But to answer your question, YES... the subcompacts are about as durable as the other models. I just don't find them to be as ergonomic or as easy to use as range guns.

In conclusion, IMO, I generally prefer the compact Glocks due to better ergonomics, and great balance. Having said this, I have no plans to sell my G26, and I do like it as a backup to my G19.

I've shot mine with my pinky under the mag, it's comfortable but I don't get that positive grip on the gun like I would prefer.

I almost have to have a +1 or +0 finger rest extension to feel like I have control over the gun. Also I have heard the GAP magazine extensions also work great, while not adding so much length to the magazine.

Because I had to use the extension I ended up switching to a Glock 19. With the +1 finger extensions the 26 is just about as tall as the 19 anyways. The extra length in the slide is not hard to conceal.

9mm or 45.. ok, but..

...

I was shooting my Colt Defender 45 one day, and a young man (great shot) asked me if my gun was a Defender model. I said yes, and asked him if he'd like to shoot 2 mags worth with it. He smiled and said thanks, and asked me if I wanted to shoot his sub-compact HK (IIRC) very small 45.

We exchanged guns, and he shot the Defender like a tack driver, and I was very surprised at how well, and not a difficult "recoil" issue IMO, his little 45 was.

His had a double stack mag, making for 10 shots, IIRC, but I was impressed as the grip, small, but did have a little pinky slot on the flush bottom mag, did not feel that thick, but I knew something was up when I fired the 8th round, thru the 10th.

Then I asked him if he'd like to try my Beretta Px4 40cal, and it took him for a good ride the first 20 rounds.. lol, then he found the grip, and the last 10 rounds were nicely grouped.

Moral of the story: IMHO, if one wants to get a sub-compact, either get a 9mm or a 45cal, as the 40cal is gonna be the least forgiving, and the longest ride, for one to get the feel and accuracy with, especially in quick followup shots.

I have installed the finger rest extensions on all my G26 mags.
As this was before the AWB sunset, they are +0.
It does improve the ergonomics and the notion that it destroys the concealability is a false fantasy!!
With the extended mag, I pocket carry the little beast with no loss of generality, and when using an IWB or OWB holster, it gets covered by a garment anyway!!

G33 owner here. I own several GLOCKs and I don't see any abnormal wear on my sub-compact compared to my compact (G23) or full size (G31) models.

I prefer the Pearce +0 (PG26-XL) on the G33 for grip comfort. I've also replaced the stock guide rod assembly with a Wolff stainless guide rod and 20 lb. spring to help reduce recoil. These mods were a must for me as I have large hands and it can be a bit much to hold onto at times when firing.

Ditto to BossHogg above. My carry is a 33. I also have big paws and have nerve damage in my hand to boot. With the spring mods and Pearce extensions it is VERY controllable.

Love my 26, the 9mm Glocks are standouts. The 19 and 26 are an excellent combination and my favorite Glocks.

The 9MMs are standouts, but I would also say that the 10MMs are too. Can't go wrong with a GLOCK in 9mm or 10mm !

Pocket carrying a G26?...it's smaller than the rest of 'em but it's still a Glock. How do you guys really do that? A G26 is no easier to carry than a G19 IMO. I say this because I've owned a G19 and 27, and the 27 felt just as heavy and bulky as the G19. Pocket carrying a Kahr PM9 is pushing it... you people putting guns that are essentially service weapons in your pocket are something else!

On that note, I agree with Surefire about the G19. Why short yourself a full grip and higher mag capacity with the G26/27. Everybody I know(including myself) gets a Pearce +1 pinky extender anyways...so now you have a much less controllable/shootable gun with less capacity for a HALF inch difference in barrel length and almost no perceived difference in weight or carry comfort? If ur gonna get a Glock, go with the 19 over the 26. Just my advice after owning both...do what suits your needs the best though. Good luck.

A G33 loaded with .357 Sig 125 JHP ammo is just a bit better ballistically than a G26 loaded with 9mm 115 +P+ ammo.
Thing is, you can find .357 Sig 125 JHP ammo much easier than you can find 115 +P+ 9mm ammo if you aren't a cop.

As stated, durability isn't an issue.

I have a Glock 19, carry it just about every day. There is not enough money to buy it from me. I have had it for 2 years, and have put 10,000+ rounds through it (2 pistol courses, and lots of range time), failures can be counted on one hand. I have asked Santy Clause for a Glock 26. The shorter grip makes it more concealable, and a 19 mag carried as a spare gives 15 more rounds. A friend of mine has one, and I have shot it quite a bit. I am just as accurate with it as I am with the 19, without the extended mags. I agree, if you are going to get the mag extensions, you may as well just go with the 19.

While I really like .45s....I wont part with my Glock 26.

It simply shoots perfect and has never failed once.

Glocks - very unexciting. I have a few I have not shot in years...but the 26 sees lots of range and carry time.

I conceal carry a G26 everyday everywhere legal to include around the house.. It is the smallest (19.75oz empty) 9mm that I consider reliable enough for self defense.. I don't do mag extensions.. Lots of folks dislike the short grip on the G26 and it felt a little strange to me at first.. I got very familiar with the grip after many range evolutions and countless thousands of rounds fired... I believe the G26 is the brightest star in the entire Glock line-up..

I have thousands of rounds thru a Glock 27. Also have the 357 barrel.
It's the same size as the 26 which I once owned.
It can't be beat IMHO.

G27 observations...

I've shot the G27 and really like it as a subcompact back up weapon. If you're familiar with other .40S&W Glocks then the controlability of shooting a G27 should be fine.

Very accurate in my opinion and reliable gun.
Since I have medium sized hands, the extended mag tucks my fingers well. Not as good as a G23.

So go for the baby Glock!
