Bad Ammo Report- Independence Ammo

I had bullet set backs in my 1911 using Independence 45 ACP. They missed the crimping stage and the bullet set back into the case when it struck the top of the chamber.

Fortunately, my 1911 had been acting up and started jamming. It's the ONLY time I will say I am happy to have a failure to feed.

I will NEVER shoot Independence ammunition EVER again. There is NO excuse for this.

I agree with you and that is why I took the time to also warn our fellow readers about my experiences with this ammo. As I have since learned, there are alot of people who have had similar experiences.

I just had the same problem as sidewinder2 with Independence ammo. I got a box for free when I bought a gun. I wanted to try out a new to me Walther P1 and this was the only ammo I had on hand so I gave it a shot. The first 11 rounds went off without a hitch and I thought, wow I guess this ammo is ok, it cycles fine.

Then when I fired the 12th round something didn't sound right. I looked at the gun an everything looked ok, I opened the action and there was lots of unburnt powder, an empty case in the chamber and a bullet less than an inch into the barrel.

When I got it home I tapped it out with a cleaning rod without too much effort. The primers look normal, as far as I can tell the primer went off, sent the bullet a little ways down the barrel, but for some reason the primer did not ignite some or all of the powder. It definitely set off the primer b/c I heard it and the powder had the black coating blown off and it looked golden. I won't be firing the rest of the box.
