There is a gunshow coming up this weekend and I think Im leaning towards a compact 9mm for my next purchase....
Whats out there that gives you the best bang for your buck it will be just used for nightstand duty and range trips until I get my CCW wanna keep it under 400$ so i can get some other goodies....
On a side note my local walmart is selling NEF pardner pumps 12guage for 159.00 are they always that cheap? looking for a shotgun to "MALL NINJA"
thanks ahead to everyone who helps.

That's a pretty good deal on a Pardner. They are usually priced fairly low, but I don't think I've seen them that low.

And I saw that you wrote you intend to CCW later, so I understand that's why you're looking for a compact. I agree with Mr. Deckard that a Glock 19 would be a great choice. The smaller G26 would also be a great choice as well. Best bang for the buck I'd say. 'Course, you'd have to buy a used one to get one under $400.

Consider a Kel-tec PF-9. I have lots of Glocks, but a PF-9 is what's sitting on the table next to me as I write this. It's small... only slightly larger than the Kahr PM9 and the Rohrbaugh, but at less than half the price.

And if it's for nightstand and range duty, why does it need to be compact?

That was my first thought. And I don't mean to 'assume", but if it's the the first you own of any format or caliber, it should probably not be "compact".

I have never been impressed by used gun selection or price at a gun show. Perhaps the ones I've looked at have a padded price to allow for bartering but when you have 6-7 people crowding a table with one person working it thats a mostly moot point anyway.

I bought a new Stainless Ruger P95 for $350 at a gun show. Total price was over $400 though after tax, background check and entrance fee factored in. It is what I would consider maximum size for CCW use short of "wearing a coat, could conceal a shotgun" type deal.

If you were willing to spend more a Ruger SR9c would be an obvious choice because you can vary handle size with the use of 10 or 17 round mags.

Another nod to the Kel-Tec PF-9. The P-11 might be a little more comfortable to shoot, and holds a few more rounds.
Bersa Thunder 9 should come in south of $400, too, but they're not so common as to turn up readily at gun shows.

I agree the thunder 9 or maybe even the mellimium pro 9 mil both under 4 bills and decent relaible firearms. Really hard the do this on an Iphone

Id say Glock as well. Used 17's and 19's can be had under your target price. I also recently looked at the S&W 910 around the same price. I payed $399 for the only Taurus I own, a stainless PT99.

Best Bang at Kel Tec

Found this site just today looking for Kel tec info. IMO, Kel Tec P11 parkerized for $377. Goofy rear site, let it fall off and learn to shoot w/o, carries better then baby glock. 10 round in 1 up. Brand new protection for under 400 with money to spare for x mag $20

Some people have a different idea of what compact means.

To me a glock 19 is compact, and that would be my first choice, if that is too big for you, then i highly recomend the kel-tec pf-9, it is a great size, weight, reliable, and unbelievebly accurate for as small as it is. The trigger is also very nice too.

too much indeed.

I would skip the p11 and go with the pf 9. they are going for about $230 and less in some places, and the p11 has a 9lb trigger, and the pf-9 has about a 5lb but it is very smooth. You loos capacity, but you get a better shooting gun.

Of course it is all relative, you can carry some guns in your pocket, some on your side, some not at all. Whatever the size or shape, find a gun that fits your hand and shooting style, learn to shoot it with perfection and carry with confidence. Any gun is better then a sharp stick in the eye.

I am really interested in the new Ruger LC9 for CCW. Many are posting below $400 retail price. 1/4/11 Review here.

I am quite the fan of Bersa 9mms (and I'm sure the .40S&W and .45acps are equally as nice).
I'd imagine both the Bersa Thunder HC9 (17+1) and the more compact UC9 (13+1, which I often carry) could both be found new for less than $400.

Southern Ohio Gun was recently selling these earlier Thunder models for hardly more than $300 new-in-box not too long ago, so you might luck into a decent deal, who knows.

Bersa easily wins the "best bang for the buck" in the new gun category in my book, as long as the price hasn't crept up much.

Epiphany makes a good point about the P-6, but they're just so blamed big for a 9mm with middlin capacity. Mine hasn't left the house in ages.
