I was recently banned from GlockTalk after I posted my Recoil Calculator thread there. I was given no warning and no reason as to why I was banned, so I'm kinda ticked off.
I also had some Private Messages that contained very interesting knowledge, but now they're gone. That's what really hurts the most.

I emailed the administrator asking why I had been banned, and asked for a copy of my Messages folder, but got no response.

I even gave them all the project files for the Recoil Calculator to show it was not a malicious file!

It's not the end of the world, however. Glock Talk, if I may say so, was a pretty sleazy forum compared to most other gun forums. I didn't really enjoy it there but as I said there were some very knowledgeable posters.

Has anyone else been banned from there? And why?

Don't worry. I got banned for debating with someone who had no idea what they were saying. Apparently, I hurt their feelings. My life overall has been better ever since. On Glocktalk, your credibility level is directly proportional to the number of posts you have.

lol @ thefiringline

I was a member there once upon a time. I forget why I got banned.

The Firing Line isn't as bad as Glock Talk. I don't like it as much as THR, but it's OK. I posted the same thread here on THR, Glock Talk, CalGuns, and TFL.

Here on THR it got closed. OK. I can understand that.
On TFL it stayed open. OK. Someone found the program useful too!
On Cal Guns it mysteriously disappeared. OK, but weird.

On Glock Talk I was banned with no given reason. NOT OK.

Needless to say I will not be giving out any more programs!

I'm gonna be much more careful from now on.

Don't worry too much guys, freedom, and of speech is disappearing all across this country, not only on the internet. Under the guise of "offensive" or "it's against the rules" or "it's for your safety" yes even here, hence the reason I hardly post here.

There's some good info but I just mostly read IF I'm here at all.
Sad...I know.

I'm a member of a number of different forums (including Glocktalk, which I haven't visited in months). Glocktalk just wasn't doing it for me after a while, and I simply faded away.

I have noticed that every forum seems to have its own "culture". On some forums (like this one) threads typically just get locked when things get out of control. On other more restrictive forums it seems like users are constantly being banned, often without any overtly obvious reasoning. On the opposite end of the spectrum I've been a member on some nearly unregulated forums where people mostly argue like kids on the playground, and rarely discuss anything worthwhile.

I have no stake in any of these sites, and have seen the good and bad sides of each type of forum. I also agree with Jackmccoy's assessment of the Glocktalk culture (that is, post count being viewed as credibility).

The one thing I wish THIS forum had was an "off-topic" section. I love that this board stays mostly focused on the gun theme, but I would also love to have a section where I could also feel free to discuss other interests with some of the members! Again, I have no stake in this forum, so my desires are merely suggestions!

AAAAG!

I'm trying to log in one more time to copy my Messages folder but I can't!
Even proxy servers won't hide my IP!

It still says "your IP has been banned".

You know, I posted a slightly ( and I mean slightly ) pro-1911 thread there too.

Most likely it's the proxy's IP that has been blocked. The list of proxy servers is pretty well known.

I used to post on GT 10+ years ago and even moderated the C3 forum for a bit, and just kind of faded away from that site too. Since I don't have a real high opinion of grena... er, Glocks, it's probably for the best. ;)
