Has anybody used a Bar-Sto 9mm conversion barrel for a SIG P229 (currently .40S&W)? I was considering getting into IDPA and would like to use 9mm mainly for the cost savings. Buying an entirely new gun right now is out of the question.

My main questions are:
1.Is this conversion reasonably reliable? Note: I'm not going to use it for personal defense.
2.Does the conversion barrel dramatically change the point of aim? In other words, will I have to get a different height front sight?

Thanks for any info or comments.

What about spending the $300 on reloading equipment? Load up some plated lower powered .40 rounds. Ive found these to be similar recoil to a factory 9, while being cheaper and more accurate.

I own a Sig 229 Sport in 40 S&W. Purchased an extra SS slide from CDNN and a Barsto 9mm Conversio Barrel. They dropped in perfectly and have shot relioably and accurately (250 round test). The information included with the barrel indicates that some may not be a drop fit. I guess I was lucky.

I use a P229 for competition as well. My question to you is, what's wrong with the present factory barrel? I ask that because I too considered a Bar-Sto barrel. Several members told me unless the factory barrel has had tens of thousands rounds down it, a replacement is probably not needed. Maybe you should use that set away cash for decent equipment for IDPA shooting.
