I have had a love hate relationship with the little 243win for the last 35 years but have had no experience with Barnes bullets ,so any feedback would be great.

would never be seen dead with a 243 but love my 6mm08 ,just sounds bigger

I handload Barnes TSX, they are tricky to say the least, bullet seating depth makes all the difference in the world, tiny differences make the difference between a 1" group and a 4" group. Not my favorite bullet but they sure do penetrate very well, saw a recent ballistic gel test where the little 243 went through aprox 32" which is impressive to say the least. Never used them in a 243 but I have them shooting pretty good in my 6.5x55.
Reviews from those who have used them are mostly good. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/75...in-hollow-point-boat-tail-lead-free-box-of-50
My only concern using all copper bullets in a small caliber is the narrow wound tract, I might opt for a 100gr Partition for larger game or a 100gr SGK for deer class game.

Kachok is right. They also need like a 8 or 9" twist barrel due to the necessity of stabilizing a long light (compared to lead) bullet. They are expensive and I don't use them any more. I use Nosler Partitions instead.
When you develop a consistent, accurate load with one, they do penetrate and kill well. It's just a pain to try to develop that load .. if it even exists.

personaly id prefer a 100 grain bullet and in guns like the 243 id personaly pass on tsx bullets alltogether and would prefer a bit more expansion like a good old cup and core bullet will give.

While I occasionally use 55-grain bullets for prairie dogs, I'm lazy. I've found that the Sierra 85-grain HPBT in my 1:10 twist carbine works quite well on Bambi, as long as I stay with neck shots or cross-body heart/lung shots. It's a "blow-up" bullet, so I won't try an angling shot.

It creates a double-handful of mush where the heart/lungs were. And it does horrible things to feral cats, feral dogs, jackrabbits and coyotes.

i have used 243 win on deer. My favourite bullet is Hornady's 100 gr (2450) i do like the look of the barnes in 6mm. the whole question has been removed now i use 7mm and 30 cal.
