WOW! What a difference!

I've been loading/shooting Barnes TSX 85 grn HPBT in my 243 with a .050 bullet jump. (Barnes' suggested starting bullet jump.) and That got about 1.5 to 1.75" groups at 100 yards. That created an overly long COAL. On a lark, I loaded up some with the same projectile and power charge, but I loaded it to the Barnes manual specified COAL of 2.645, which dramatically increased the bullet jump to the lands. Groups immediately dropped to 3/4" at 100, 1" at 200, and 3" at 300. Amazing.

Barnes has never posted that bullet jump will work in every rifle. This is what they post, your rifle may prefer a bullet jump of anywhere between (a minimum of) .050” up to .250” or more.

bergers are the same way. they don't like to be close to the lands.

Correct. It's in their data. I guess I didn't make that clear.
