Barnes XPB bullets

Anybody ever used them on deer or hogs? What results did you get?

16.99 for 20, 225 grain kinda pricey for loading your own, but I am always interested in testing a new bullet.

16.99 for 20 .45cal bullets better come with a hot blonde. That's simply outrageous.

You don't need to try every bullet on deer or hogs to know if they'll work; of course they'll work just like the various cup and core bullets that also work. Even at $16.99 for 25, I would use them if they gave me better accuracy or if I had a much more challenging animal than a deer or hog to take down.

I have tried them, by the way though I didn't pay that much for them. It turns out I've gotten better accuracy with other bullets so, if I were you I wouldn't waste my time or my money. Barnes has an irritating habit of changing bullets so by the time you buy their expensive bullets and work up a load you like, they're on to something else and you can't get your favorite bullet any longer.

I had a gift card, so i thought i would give them a try. I have loaded their .30 cal tsx and ttsx and got pretty good results.

What other bullets have tried that gave you a similar result? So far I have shot the Speer Deep Curl and the Hornandy XTP and FTX.

I also load Barnes bullets for several applications. I'm not saying Barnes XPB aren't good; I think they are but when you talk about handgun bullets you are so, shall we say, overgunned, that the ability to take a deer or a hog isn't going to depend on using a Barnes bullet. I actually have a BUNCH of 45 caliber XPB bullets I got pretty cheap but I haven't yet found them to be any more accurate and in fact less so than offerings from Hornady.

On the other hand I use Barnes TSX bullets in a 30/06, a 375 H&H Magnum and a 378 Weatherby Magnum because I get excellent accuracy with them in those cartridges. I wouldn't need to load them for deer or pigs; I only load them because they work better. I'm currently working on Barnes Buster bullet loads; yea, those bullets are pretty expensive and not any more accurate than cheaper ones but I need a load for Cape Buffalo.

Last year i bought several boxes of Barnes 225 grain .430 XPB bullets for my muzzleloader. They were on sale for less than half price. i've killed several hogs with those bullets using 100 grains of Goex Pinnacle powder. They do a good job. i usually use the Hornady 240 grain .430 XTP bullet on hogs: It also does a good job and costs a lot less.

For what you want or need any ole 240gr to 300gr hp or sp or lead that is at a hardness of no more that 12 will do just great. Buy a box of speer deep curl load and go hunting.

I have the the 240 and 270 grain Speer Deep Curl and yes they work, I want to see if Barnes bullets are all that they say they are
