I have a Remington 597 that I want to somehow attach a laser to for night time varminting operations (armadillos are digging holes everywhere). I want to keep my 3-9x32 scope on the gun for regular plinking and daylight shooting and then sight in and use the laser with subsonic ammunition for cruising the hayfields at night. I'm not interested in the scope/light/laser combos on the market now but I was thinking of adding a barrel mounted laser just ahead of the stock. Anybody have any experience with this type of mounting system?
