MP5
I have instructed the MP-5 professionally for over 25 years as a LEO instructor/tactical operator trainer.....If you are familiar with the M-4 platform, then the transition will not be hard as the fire control placement and mag release is pretty much the same...The MP5 is pretty straightforward and is famous for it's "shootability". I have been thru the HK SMG instructor school and their armorer's school as well....go to HK parts net, they have the HK MP 5 factory operator's manual & other MP manuals available and another good printed source is the "MP-5 submachine gun" by Frank W. James .......The "users manual" from HK parts will set you on the right path. as far as manual of arms and how to operate, clean, maintain and function the MP..The MP5 comes in several configurations with various modes ( burst - non burst) of fire......the primary issue that most operators have with the HK system is that the bolt does not lock to the rear when the mag is empty, also to load properly, you lock the bolt open - indexing the cocking lever into the notch on the port side of the weapon, insert and lock in the mag and then with a brisk motion "swat" down the cocking lever( people have a tendency to want to unlock the cocking handle and then "ride" the bolt home - don't), which allows the bolt to go fwd into battery.....reloads, clearance drills,F2F etc are pretty much the same as with any semi or FA platform....the biggest difference is having that cocking lever on the port side of the weapon and up front.....but with same basic skill set development and practice it will become second nature.....if you have single and FA versions, focus on double and triple taps from the Single fire mode.....they worked us hard on this at the SMG instructors school....if you have further questions I will try and answer them..good luck on ur deployment.
