And yet another ATF audit...Enough is Enough!

On Tuesday we received another visit from the ATF; there were 4 ATF employees (3 of which were from out of state) which consisted of an Area Supervisor, an Inspector and 2 Investigators. I must admit that they were very cordial and polite.
During the visit which lasted from about 9:30am-3pm, we got upwards of 79 US Department of Justice hits on our website (ATF serves under the DOJ, so there IP addresses come up as DOJ). One visitor sat on my website for nearly 4 hours and 2 others sat there for over 5 hours. 8 Different IP Addresses visited our website in total today.
I did not blog about our visit while they were here, alert the media, video tape or photograph them; which was the previous agreement that we made with them before the US Attorney reneged on the agreement...twice. I did however alert our Congressional Delegates and our Sheriff, who has repeatedly asked that the ATF alert him when they are conducting investigations and audits.
Although I appreciate the ATF being courteous while they were here, I am still offended at the waste of taxpayers money to try and find SOMETHING...ANYTHING! In the mean time this has gone on for over 2 years now, cost us $115,000 in attorney fees with no court date in sight, involved 7 Inspectors, 2 Investigators, an Area Supervisor and a Special Agent. This has cost tax payers hundreds of thousand of dollars to try and shut us down for .4% that they contend are willful. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! I ask everyone to contact the US Department of Justice; Office of the Inspector General and click on the button that states "REPORT WASTE, FRAUD OR ABUSE". This is YOUR money that is being wasted and these are YOUR freedoms that are ultimately being destroyed by the ATF's agenda of shutting down gun dealers.

Link to the DOJ waste report page???

Where are you all located? If it's not too ridiculously far away, I may make a road trip up there for my next gun just for the sake of solidarity.

Ummmmmm....

Then why on earth did the post come from East Texas?:uhoh:

Springmom the very confused

(That's a bit of a stretch for a road trip from Houston!)

I have not had that long a road trip since I drove from Tampa to Canada for beer ( I was young, in college, and it seemed like a good idea at the time)

I think the OP copied and pasted that from Red's Trading Post's blog page. Note the "posted by" line at the bottom.

This began a while back during a straw purchase sting. IIRC. Two guys looking like good citizens and one had supposedly "forgot" his wallet and so the other guy was gonna buy a gun for him from a salesman. I have not followed this closely enough to have better information. Just what is said here and that Red;s is in Twin Falls Idaho

Well

While I completely sympathize with the guy, I'm not going to voice support by reporting it as fraud when I do not know what really happened.

Otherwise, good luck!

Who did they tick off? Sounds like somebody in the .gov has a vendetta against Red's and won't stop until they are out of business.

Grudge

I was wondering the same thing. Sounds like someone is harboring one big MF of a grudge.

There is that element in some bureaucrats' character that seems to resent not having their butts kissed as much as they'd like. "You'll treat me like I'm King of your world or I'll crush you like a bug" is the usual mode of communication, whether spoken aloud or not.

Wouldn't it frost the ATF inspectors if Red's was 'closed due to a family emergency' when they showed up? What a waste of taxpayer gasoline and time to show up at a closed business.

Or they'd conduct their search anyway...without anyone being there making sure they are doing things by the book.

Y'all need to go to Red's website and all of your questions will be mostly answered. In addition go to David Codrea's "War on Guns" website for more info.

The attack on Red's Trading Post has been going on for at least 2 years and the BATFU are committed to putting this outstanding small businessman out of business.

Inform yourself...read something besides THR!

This is kinda on topic, but doesnt the ATF fall under the Dept of the Treasury?
They are responsible for the enforcement of taxable products. In the olden days they were called revenuers. They are the strong arm branch of the Treasury Dept. They are not even a " Law enforcement agency". The only reason they work in the capacity they do is due to an executive order by Clinton (the first one). What is really screwed up is they determine what guns are illegal and make most of the rules. Who the F!@# are they to make laws that is congresses job, and who are they to interpret laws that is the judicial branches job. So essentially they are a rogue government agency that operates with no impunity. Completely circumventing our system of checks and balances.

Welcome to the wonderful world of governmental bureau-crazy, where administrative rulings and agency regulations carry the same full weight and force as federally enacted laws. If they don't "exercise" their administrative and regulatory muscle, then they don't get the bigger piece of the budgetary dollars they "need" to keep their agency in the big picture in Washington. It's all about image and power.

What chipperi said.

And remember all this when you folks go to vote; any candidiate that does not recognize what has taken place in this country during the period of several decades and has taken a position on it - to carry forward or dismantle - is only there to carry it forward. Or is lying; by omission or otherwise.

One or the other. Their are no in betweens. This renegade tax collection ageny needs to be abolished - along with the "taxes" they collect and the other forms of corporate government racketeering in this country.

Don't forget to sign the petition at Red's website.

I wish they had a website like CTD that I could order ammo or parts or something from to help them out. :(

I would buy a gun from them but they are out of my driving distance by days.

Its because they can. Not many dealings with the BATF, but have had enough with the FAA to see them destroy lives and business without much of a thought.

It's not just Red's.

They have shut down 3 FFLs (every one that would do a transfer) in my small home town in the past 6 months.

1 party was a crook, and probably deserved it. 1 made a couple of mistakes on forms, and one just quit after the fourth inspection in a little over a year. They found nothing wrong, but kept coming back and hassling the guy until he just said, "I'm 65 years old and have enough money to retire, I don't have to put up with this (poo poo) anymore.

And it's having it's desired effect. It's pretty much become too hard to get a transfer done for me to fool with it. :cuss::fire::mad::cuss:

This seems like it has been going on forever. I may have to call up Reds and order a gun shipped to my local FFL soon just to provide a little support.
