I finally found a gun that shoots my favorite go-to .44 Special range load poorly.

My GP-100, two Model 629’s, a Model 624 and Blackhawk.44 Spl. all shoot an Eggleston 200 gr RNFP over 7.3 gr Unique very well. These are DA at 10 yds with the GP.

My 4.2” Model 69 .44 Mag apparently hates them. DA at 10 yds, about a 4” spread :(. (My first shot was way high, I adjusted downwards for the rest.) The gun is a decent shooter with loads it likes. The second group below was a 240 gr JHP over 11 gr Unique in a .44 Mag case. Other than my cursed flinch tossing three, all went into one ragged hole.

I guess sooner or later we all find a gun who bobbles when fed our pet loads

Stay safe.

I often find myself reading about, and in discussions about, the differences on Keith bullets. I have acquired a small sampling and figured I’d share a picture showing the differences.

Keith specified a squared off lube groove, and 3 equal length drive surfaces. Only the 2nd from left, and far right bullets comply.

I know old Elmer was positively apoplectic when Ideal went with a round bottom lube groove.

He complained for years about how his design was being changed by everyone, yet still called a 'Keith' bullet.

Got a little project going and need some logs. Felled this tulip poplar and of course, had my trusty 44 Ruger with me.
