Just ran some tests on BB ammo. First try with this ProChrono. . .

Buffalo Bore Heavy 38 spl +p 158 grain LSWHC-GC
S & W K-38 Model 14-4
H: 1213
L: 1180
AVE v: 1200
EX SPR: 33
SD: 13

Conditions:
82F
Humidity: 45%
Wind: 9mph SSW

Truth in advertising I suppose. I realize many have done this but just trying to add something to the mix. Tested some BB .45 +p also will put in appropriate forum.

Box says: 1,000fps. I think that is for a 2" barrel. BB tests are listed at BB website, try there.

S & W 6".

It's probably faster than my results, I am a poor excuse for a 'chronographer'. But the results are honest. Just came back in the house and posted them.

I'll bet the chrono is dead on. That load from a 6" barrel is very similar to what I got many years from a stout charge of Unique or a mellow charge of 2400. In my experience a 6" really gets things going. I would guess a 4" would be around 1100 fps and a 2" very high 900s with a 2.5" or 2 1/4" hovering around that 1000 fps as advertised.

I just wanted to see for myself. 1200fps from a .38 is a bulldog of a round, imo. (Even a 6" barrel). Right conditions and a good 'chronographer' and I suspect 1000+fps from a 2" is spot on. Truth in advertising from my perspective.

I also shot 5 rounds of BB from an LE6920 and three were dupes. Consistency from my small sample

1200 from a 6" sounds like the 38-44 load of 1140 measured from a 4" tube. That is stout.

And really is "+P"...

The Brassfetcher and myself tested that load from my 1 7/8" 640 and got a little over 1,000fps. Not sabby at all.

We also tested it in a 4" and got 1248 fps. There are some .357 loads that won't do that with lighter bullets from the same length barrel.

Thanks for the information.
I have wondered just what the BB 158 +P was doing. I've chronographed the non +P at 876fps from a 2" bbl.
