Interesting day at the range anyway...
I went to the outdoor range here in town today to shoot my 3" GP 100 and my S&W 6946. Of course today is the last Saturday of the month and I happened to arrive during a black powder pistol shooting match. The schedule I had stated the range was open to the general public @ 12 noon so I was ok on my time, but he match was still going on. An older gentleman (Range Officer) walked up and explained to me what was going on with their match. I was polite and explained that I wanted to shoot my "modern" pistols and would accomodate wherever he would let me shoot. He indicated the end of the firing line (where I like to shoot anyway) and life was good (Josephine County Sports Park has a large pistol range which helps). I then engaged him in general gun conversation and he explained to me the nature of their matches, the precussion pistols they use and how the score targets. I was nice to actually talk with someone up there as usually I am the only one around. Through out the breaks to change targets and he and I spoke often, again about general gun stuff. He even invited me to shoot their matches with them (if only I had a black powder pistol!).
A few hours later when I was done, I walked up and offered all he .38 and .357 brass which he accepted kindly(as I don't reload). It was a nice day at the range; I learned more about black powder pistol shooting, made a friend and blasted some ammo.
