Got into a discussion on another forum as to what amounts to a "hunt". I have a primitive cabin on land that abuts wilderness. There are no other buildings within a half mile or so. No electric and no water. During hunting season when I get up in the morning, I consider my hunt as started. If I look out the window and see an elk, I would try and get a shot. No different than if I were out in a tent. If I shot that elk and someone asked how hunting was going, I would answer, "great, I got my elk" or something to that effect. I was told that shooting a bear from my cabin would not qualify as a hunt, although I have read a lot of tales of bear hunts where the hunter sat over a bait and waited for a bear to come on down and have a bite. I have a bear that seems to be taken with bird seed. I have quit putting out the seed, but he still wanders by. So, help out the old guy. Is this a bear hunt or just eliminating a pest bear?
