yes the safety is after market I see nowBuy it, just for the action, stock and cool vintage scope. You can always upgrade the trigger and rebarrel if needed.
The mark II may refer to the safety. Dayton Traister MKII. The action looks military, but hard to tell from the pics.
i waited to long thought i would low ball him to take 280$ big mistakeThe triggerguard appears to have a gold color -- could it be either plated or anodized? Can't make out from the photos whether the side rail is thumb cut for strippers. It appears that the clip slot on rear bridge was military, perhaps milled down to accept the scope base. Finish on the safety is different, appears newer than the rest of the action. 1950s California styling and finish on the stock. My guess agrees with Random 8: a custom job on a military action.
Nice looker at a good price -- except for the white lines. A plague on whomever came up with white line spacers!
dont make me feel worse then i am alreadyI''d have paper cuts from the speed at which I'd have drawn $300 from my pocket for that.
Scope, mount and rings are worth around half of that to me. The rifle alone? Over twice the asking price.
Of course, after inspection.
Those safeties were an accommodation for rear-ward mounted scopes as were the beautifully curved bolt handles.
Todd.
That turned out pretty nice! At least the stock distracts from the overall ungainlyness of the action...I've always liked them, even though I've only ever had them on one gun... that is now my sons.

I like the white line spacers because all the good quality rifles had them in the gun catalogs back when I was a kid. It was something I aspired to own one day...
All for the sake of $20.i waited to long thought i would low ball him to take 280$ big mistake
