Hello,
I've got a "Midland" rifle, made in England and it's a .30-06 caliber on a Mauser action .
From what I've been able to find online this company may have been bought out by Parker Hale at some point? And Parker Hale actually has a rifle whose model name is Midland (but that's not what I have).
Anyway, how do I know what will fit this rifle, esp. scope bases and a stock.
As you can see from the pics it doesn't have the flag safety so I think that might mean something?
For example, the Leupold One-piece base has TWO possible choices --
1) 526-261-620 fits "Mauser FN & Mk X, Parker Hale"
2) 526-261-730 fits "Unaltered Large Ring 98"
and for example this stock says it fits "Mauser 98 Standard" and also "These are inlet for a standard Mauser 98 Large Ring Action."
When I purchased the rifle there were "Weaver" brand rings on it, and un-named bases.
The rear base was stamped with "45" and the front base was stamped with "46".
If I assume the bases are Weaver brand as well, type 45 & 46 correspond with Brownells parts 955-010-045 and 955-010-046 which go along with "Mauser FN, HVA, Model 95, 98 large ring)" __not__ "Mark X"
So this now looks like I can't use the Leupold Quick-Release Base since it only comes in the Mark X, and I can't use the QRW base since it isn't in Mauser flavor at all.
Apologies if this is either overly confusing or overly simplistic.
