Well, did a little horse trading, ended up with 175 rounds of Winchester 250 grain .45 LC XTP JHPs, a decent rig for the Vaquero, and this thing. I know the old Spanish revolvers are almost universally considered crappola, but for sending some .38 wadcutters down range, I'm rather satisfied. It seems to be pretty nice, case color still on the frame, and massive cylinder. The walls are literally twice as thick as a model 10.

Nothing wrong with a weird old gun.

Not every gun has to be life-savingly reliable, or built to last for thousands of rounds. Some can just be what they are; odd, fun, inexpensive, and semi-retired, after filling their own little role in history.

Really kinda neat looking, maybe prep it for some "rust browning" solution like ya do for a muzzleoader. That would create a finish for it, then just keep it oiled.

I have a thing for the Star .22 semi's, have one made in 1958 I bought on a whim. Bomb proof reliable, accurate, and only 3 major pieces. Actually might start using it for an open carry piece in Michigan.
