I've been scouring the web and am yet to find a bedside shotgun safe. Seems like it would be a popular product for anyone who has kids. Handguns suck for home defense but I can find thousands of bedside safes for them. Anyone know of such a product?

I have wanted to make one that is universal for semi-auto's and pumps and would allow a shell in the chamber when secured. Would you want the whole gun enclosed or just something to cover the action and attach to a wall, etc.

Check our your local police supply (or in my cause I could have picked up 4 for about $50 at the surplus auction)

the have locking vehicle racks, most have a magnetic lock that is released by a handcuff key AND a momentary off switch, you can hit the hidden switch and grab it right out. New a shotgun lock will cost about 50 (keyed lock from Mossberg.com) to a few hundred for the police style racks.

The Mossberg Loc-Box is a pretty good option, but I prefer the ShotLock.

There is also a couple in-wall locking units that are quite useful. The one from V-line is the my favorite.

If you could offer something similar to the ShotLock, but with the better gauge of steel that you use in your other boxes, it would be perfect.

What the Mossberg box has that the ShotLock lacks, is a padded lag hook that is inserted into the barrel to keep the gun from being used as a pry-bar to rip the whole thing off the wall.

Sentry® Home Defense Center

This electronic safe weighs 110 pounds, and will take less than one square foot of space on your bedroom floor. It's 54" tall. Basically a one-gun safe. It does seem a bit expensive for it's size and purpose, at $350, but maybe that's a testament to its' quality.

I don't own it, just saw it and my local Cabela's a few days back, and linked it for you here. Seems to fit your need perfectly. I don't know if it's able to be bolted to the floor, but if not, be aware of the fact that it would be easy to pick up and walk out with in the event your home is burglarized.

Correction on the Sentry HDC. It's not a one gun safe, as I said. It will hold one long-gun (rifle or shotgun), and one handgun. There's a small shelf inside, on the top part. Here's a pic. Kinda hard to tell, but that's a holstered handgun on the shelf.

Both excellent points. Thanks for the suggestions.

Here’s mine, V-Line Long Gun Vault:

Fit’s my Benelli M1S90, extra ammo etc. Slides easily under the bed, or can be mounted to a wall inside closet etc. It uses a simplex lock that doesn’t require batteries. I’ve got 3 V-Lines all set for the same combination. It’s not cheap, but offers “peace of mind” and has cut way down on my HD shotgun dusting. I have the rifle model because sometimes I swap the Benelli out for my AR.
