Beeman gs1000 info please

I have had a BEEMAN GS1000, I think they call it a springer. I have had thie rifle for several years. It is a 177 cal pellet rifle. To me it still shoots pertty hard. What is the quality level of my rifle it says it is made in Spain. It has a nice heavy wooden stock and a rubber butt plate, and a nice blue job. The rifle is what I would call heavy for a Air Rifle. Also I need some guidance on a new scope for it, the scope on it is going south won`t hold a zero. I will shooting my rifle mostly inside with some friends at short ranges 10 to 15 yards. My eyes are getting old just like the rest of me. I was thinking about a 4X12 by 40mm or 44mm lens. Could someone give me some guidance on what to buy. Also are there any Refurbished Air Rifle scopes available. Do I have a good enough rifle to mainly shoot targets and do some Crow & Pigeon hunting. Thanks in advance for any help:

They were excellent rifles made far better than thr current crop of Asian guns imported as Beemans.
The Spanish always used good springs and it was not uncommon for thr springs to last indefinatelly!
Far as a hunting rifle it should give good preformance and for target and plinking likewise. Veloitys should still be in the spprox 800 fps level which is more thn enugh for small game.
Get several brands of pellets and try them all to find the most accurate this is more important than highest velocity.
For a scopel don't go too high of a magnification as they defeat themselves showing every wiggle and twitch. I have at least 6 4X scopes on my rifles including a 4X on a RWS 52 22 which shoots very fast and hard. I have found the 4X dosen't sshow all those errors and I shoot bettter with them. I have had good luck with leapers, Bushnell and BSA Scopes. BSA
s are one of my favorites.

BPDave: Thank You for you info and sharing your experinces with me. The only Air Rifle Scope I can find in Wichita Ks at this time are BSA`s. So with your advice I will go take another look at them at Cabelas. I am shooting with to other OLD GUYS is one of their basements mostly, but it is about time for the Crows to start hanging around in the trees in the back yard again. Thanks again for you help.

I to have a Beeman GS 1000 rifle but its a 22 caliber. The rifle had a Beeman 3-9 X AO scope on it when I purchased it. It was inaccurate until the barrel was cleaned with JB bore cleaner and the muzzle was re crowned. Try different brands and weight pellets to find the one your rifle likes. I have a portable benchrest in my den and a pellet trap 10 meters away in the storage room . At 78 years old I like the scope set at 9 X when target shooting. I also shoot a spring powered Beeman R 1 17 Cal, Benjamin Mdl 312, and 342 22 Cal, 20 Cal Sheridan Rocker Safety, and Crosman 20 Cal pump up air rifles. The other vari power AO scopes I have used cost around $ 100 . I like the 4-12 X AO scope and set it at 12 X when target shooting.

bracer: Thanks for your info, I am going to take the rifle to the gun smith tomorrow if possible, to see about a recrown job. I felt the crown and darn it appears there is a bur all around the bore. Tell me how you used the J B Bore cleaner. I have been led to belive not to put a brush in the bore of an Air Rife, What are your ideas on cleaning the bore of a Air Rifle. Oh is recrowing a Air Rifle barrel any different than any other barrel, my berrle is a 177 cal. And what should the cost be for having it done. Thanks in advance for all your help.

bracer: You won`t belive this but. It appears the scope is just fine. The rough bur that was clear around the crown was lead, at least when I soaked it in lead remover it dispeared. I have yet to clean the bore with JB Bore Cleaner, but am going to I found some at a LGS across town and I have yet to go get it. After cleaning the bore with the lead remover and using nylon brush the gun shot good again for about 20 or 25 shots. Then the groups started to open up and the burr was back in the crown of the bore again. Thank you so much for your info, I really belive you were spot on right

Iv not used JB to clean 17 caliber air rifles. I use a worn out 17 caliber brush and wrap a patch around it , then apply JB to the patch to clean my 22 caliber GS 1000 rifle.
