Kayso I just installed the belt clip on a Kel-Tec PF-9. I wanted a truly diminutive waistband carry, so I broke down and got this for my Kel-tec. I just finished installing it so I haven't even carried it yet.

Who else has done this? Also:

1. Have you ever used one of those clips on a pistol (including a revolver)?
2. Which one (which pistol and which clip)?
3. Whadja think? (Functionality, did the thing stay put, were you ever concerned about an unintended discharge)

All my carry guns are holstered. Although I would love the convenience of a belt clip I love my body more. If it has a trigger, it gets a holster.

I used a clipdraw on a G 26 for awhile but it's unsafe to carry a round in the chamber that way. The clip was easy to conceal, never had any trouble with the gun falling out, etc., and it was very fast to draw the gun from concealment, but having to rack the slide prior to firing negates any speed benefit from using the clipdraw , IMHO. I prefer one in the pipe so holster for me.

IWB is too easy, and I'm not giving up a body-shield, easy re-holstering and trigger protection for the dubious benefit of slimmer carry.

Not that the Kel-Tec trigger style is all that unsafe, but in this household guns in holsters are expected to be loaded, and guns NOT in holsters are expected to be cleared, I'm not establishing some in-between category of clipped guns.

Wife has carried he 32 keltec for a couple years loaded with the clip. The kelTec has a long fairly heavy trigger pull I can not see how you could even begin to pull trigger thru a pair of pants and not notice it . I have carried other P-32 with clip at times and here again clipped in front pocket of my jeans I believe near impossible to pull trigger Pistol is pointed down Ir you can hook and pull trigger pistol will be raising during the trigger pull.. Also in this sue happy world I don't think KelTec and others be offering a unsafe item knowing they would be sued if pistol discharged
I also used to carry a J frame with the grip that hooked never lost it or shot my self either

In my household everything is expected to be loaded. Probably cause they are:D, but that is completely irrelevant, cause everything is expected to be loaded until proven different. (of course if it's not loaded then I have to figure where I left the rounds that should have been in there, and that just opens up a whole different kettle of fish...)

Those belt clips aren't my cuppa tea.

I marked other because I bought one and then never installed it. It's been a year and it's still in one of my drawers somewhere.

yeti, the point is that a holstered gun is ready to go for carry, not that unholstered guns are safe.
Generally if a gun is being stored unloaded it will have the slide latched open, for that matter - I don't see how a clipped gun offers any advantage over a holster that protects the controls and makes the gun more comfortable to carry by spreading out the weight.

To the clip-users, how the hell do you re-holster?

I would rather carry my guns in holsters. I want that layer of protection between the gun and my skin/undergarments, not only for my own comfort, but to keep sweat off the gun.

when I bought my LCP, I put a KelTec clip (and finger mag extension) on it
fit just fine, the clip
(lock-tite the thread, a little dab will do ya, or it will shoot loosen up)

I never actually have yet used the gun clip, I use a clip style IWB holster which better protects the gun and me
but the gun clip is still on it, doesn't get in the way, and I sometime or other might use it ?

the finger extension on mag left a gap at bottom, mebbe ~1/16"
picked up some o-rings local hardware store, rolled one right size down the mag to base, fills the gap nice, no problemo
still ain't really quite enough handle on 'em though, it is what it is

My Taurus snub-nose revolver has a Clip-Draw and it works great.
I feel fine with the revolver carried that way because it has a long and very heavy double-action trigger-pull.

I would never carry my Glock with a Clip-Draw.

EVER.

The trigger-pull is just too light and short.

I use a clip on my Kel-Tec P-11 and like it.

It eliminates two layers of leater, kydex, cloth, or whatever your IWB holster is made of and makes the "bulge" of IWB carry less noticable and more easily concealable. My P-11 has a fairly heavy trigger pull so I am not worried about AD in pulling it any more than I would be from an IWB holster.

Ixna on lipca, no pocket lint in my holster. There are plenty of pocket, clip on holsters to protect you and your gun. I would never add such a contrivance to any pistol of mine, even one as expensive as a Keltec.

Belt clip on PF9 for stealth, IWBs for 3913 and 1911s for not so stealth (colder weather). The belt clip lets it ride low, no chance of pulling trigger while withdrawing, and comfy too.

Got one on a Keltec P32. It is out of the way unless I need it. Convienent, but not my first choice. For occasional use, it is adequate.

I carry both the P3AT and the P-11 very often with just the belt clip IWB, and have never had any issue with slipping or looseness. I also carry the P3AT in a pocket holster with the clip attached. It doesn't interfere with the draw at all. I can also carry the P-11 OWB holstered when I choose to,..same thing,..clip doesn't interefere at all. Each to their own,..but I consider the belt clips to be both safe, and convenient.

I agree. There are so many carry options (IWB, OWB, pocket, shoulder, etc.) and so many great holsters that it just doesn't make sense not to have one, IMO. Plus, a good pocket holster breaks up the outline of the gun better than just a clip. The concealment concepts holster that holds and extra mag works great as it breaks up the outline and gives you an extra mag. It prints like a wallet or PDA. There are also wallet holsters.

I just can't fathom why one would clip carry when there are so many great holsters and carry options that actually protect the trigger guard and are no less convenient, IMO.

Clips work great!

I use a clipdraw. I've been using one for years. I have one on my P3AT, my 442, my 642, my 1911, my M&P .40 and more. There is nothing unsafe about them. I have been responsible for the conversion of more than one other person to a clipdraw. I also use a paddle holster, a belt holster, an IWB holster or two.. It just depends on the way I carry, the gun I carry, what I'm wearing, etc..
I also carry one in the chamber at all times.

"I used a clipdraw on a G 26 for awhile but it's unsafe to carry a round in the chamber that way."
I strongly disagree. (I'm being very nice here) It's no different than carrying in a holster. I have carried almost every single day for the last 25 years. Many of those years with a clipdraw or something similar. I have yet to shoot myself anywhere. Maybe you should reconsider carrying a gun.

I also use holsters. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing a Galco paddle today, carrying a 642.

"To the clip-users, how the hell do you re-holster?"
It's pretty easy. Kind of like a ball point pen, but with a gun. Better question is: How many times are you pulling out your gun a day?

I stay away from clips. A gun that has a stiff thumb safety, might would use a clip. In a life or death situation, it is feasible that one could reach in the pants for the gun, and accidentally squeeze the trigger, blowing something off that could be useful later on in the night. Having an unguarded trigger on a gun without a manual safety is especially careles imo.

Pocket clips are for pocket knives.
Holsters are for handguns.

Covered trigger for safety.
Covered gun to keep it & my thin hide from becoming intimate in those dark damp places.

I put a clip grip on my S&W 642 and I tried it for a few days. I think about every 40 steps the gun was working its way up and would have hit the floor.
I took it off.
For Sale one used clip grip that fits a j frame. Anybody?

I can imagine a few instances where a clip would be preferable, mostly as a sacrifice for convince. I would like to have a mouse gun with one but as others have stated, I want something covering my trigger. If I had one it would get used, but not very often. I would not want one on my daily carry gun.
