The cheapest Benelli R1 Barrel I can find for sale is $695 which is more than most bolt action rifles.

That’s how a lot of companies get you. Beretta and it’s subsidiaries(Benelli, Sako, etc.) charge an arm and a leg for accessories and parts such as barrels. Herstal Group(Browning, Winchester, etc) does the same thing. At the other end of the spectrum are entities such as Mossberg, Savage and Remington to a degree. Whether it’s OEM or aftermarket production, items such as barrels from these companies are much more reasonable.

Horsey please describe exactly what you mean by DO need a little break in period.

Also I noticed that that listing you sent from GunBroker says it's a 300 WSM
I don't think the Benelli R1 comes in 300 WSM so maybe it actually is a 300 Win Mag anyway I sent the seller question about that

Can anyone confirm whether the Benelli R1 comes in 300 WSM or whether it possibly also comes in 700 Remington Magnum?
.300 wsm is a discontinued model like my .270wsm, the 700 rem mag is in reference to your op, mixing rem model 700 and 7mm RM, kinda tongue in cheek.
As for break in period, I meant that brand new out of the factory, the first 50 rounds may not be phenomenal on the accuracy scale, but after you get to that 100+ benchmark, they will outshoot most of my buddies (not my buddies guns just to be clear) sub moa is obtainable.
My apologies on the barrel price I was thinking of replacement barrels for 575 (.270wsm) and 8ish plus 6 is only 14 vs 1100-1200 new, so comparitively, you'll have the extra barrel to make a set for roughly new plus axis cost. The extra $$$ is from a feature packed platform, this setup is something truly unique and proprietary (much like a blaser r8). IMHO it's almost as legorific as an ar-15 or Savage but with a tool less design, better field ergos (than an ar), made to last, reduces recoil phenomenally, semi auto, and much more firepower capable than you would find even in an ar10, mags don't get "bumped" out, and is absolutely built to last. The 3 heavy lugs suggest I could even hot rod just a smidge of I were so inclined (I'm not), and built to LAST. The only downside I've discovered so far (and Harris tells me they're working on it) is the inability to mount a bipod.

The Benelli Comfortech stock that has been around a long time is synthetic, it has “chevrons” embedded in the stock that flex, reducing felt recoil. I just did a little research and indeed Benelli states the R1 Pro has a Comfortech stock. This is the traditional Comfortech stock:

This is the R1 Pro Comfortech stock:

They are different animals. There is no way the walnut stock will ameliorate recoil like the synthetic stock. To me and I’d think most people, the R1 Pro does not have a true Comfortech stock.
Spot on! Thanks for taking the time to illustrate what I was trying to say!
