Benelli R1?

I don't have one, but I sure as hell want one. Those things are gorgeous.

I wouldn't consider the BAR the primary alternative, though. I know a lot of guys like them, but they've always felt awkward and unblanced to me. If I was in the market for a semi-auto right now, I'd either get the Benelli or one of Remington's new Model 750's.

R1

I got mine last week, in a 300 WSM version.

I like it, but this is my first rifle so i don't have a lot to compare with.

The first 40 rounds where fired with the standard trigger setup, where after I adjusted the trigger (not posible if You ask Benelli), but if You have some gun knowledge you will be fine.

My trigger is down to 3.0 lbs and i am very happy, I still need to play more with deferent ammo, but I have some fair groups (2-3 inches) at 100 yards.

All my shooting has been from a table with support to my albow, no sand bags.

Holmux what kind of ammo where you using. I am also lusting after an R1 in 30-06 or 300WSM with a Confortech stock but not finding enough infomation to be able to make the kind of judgement that I would like. They are very nice looking in my view and the stock appears well designed. Three inch groups at 100 give me pause......I've got to believe they could do better. How is the Recoil with the 300WSM? I just talked to one of my sales guys today who was raving about his Browning Short Trac in 300WSM and how little it kicks. Claims his Brother in Law with the Benelli R1 300WIN Mag is trying to sell it due to excessive recoil. Hard to know about these brother in law stories.

I've got a hard time believing that a semiautomatic rifle firing the .300 Win mag would recoil any harder than it does out of a bolt action. In an average rifle I've not found the recoil of the .300 win mag to be all that bad. 2-3" groups at 100 are impressive if shot offhand. From prone or bench that's not too exciting however it's still "minute of deer" for hunting applications. The articles I've read about it lead me to believe it to be a 1MOA shooter however how can trust them? Good to know that the trigger can be adjusted anyhow.

Too much recoil ? That's crazy, they've done everything they could to reduce recoil , gas operated auto and special recoil pads . Maybe the guy should stick with a 22 lr !!....2-3" groups are not satisfactory for me. I'd like to see some data on accuracy with numerous loads.
