Hello all,
First time posting (except for sale post), I have a question for availability on after market accessories for Beretta 1201FP such as pistol grip stocks, side saddle, shorter barrels, ghost ring sights, mag extension & etc. Are these aftermarket parts available? If so where can I find them?
Thank you for your help.

Mine is 20" barrel with rifle sight. I was told it is a older version. I just bought it yesterday. I am waiting for 10 days to pick it up
Thanks for the link. Does your shotgun take 2 3/4 " only? The barrel marking only indicated 2 2/4" on the side but the information i read sounded like it takes 3" as well  I can't figured that out from the manual..
Thanks for the info.

I've got a 1201FP with standard rifle sights. These were made in both 2 3/4" and 3" versions. Mine is the 2 3/4 version. I haven't shot it in long time, but if memory serves me correct it holds 5 + 1 capacity 2 3/4" shells.

In a defensive shotgun I really don't see the need for 3" shells. 2 3/4 will do anything you need it to do, only with less recoil and one more shot in the magazine. You only need to blow the scumbag over the top of your couch, not through a window ;)

The 1201FP is a screaming bargain and an overlooked defensive shotgun for half the $$$ of a Benelli, with an action so similar that supposedly some of the parts interchange.

To answer the posters original question, there are accessories available, but the selection is a bit more limited than the Benellis. There was a guy on "Guns America" selling pistol gripped stocks for the Beretta awhile back. I believe they were manufactured by Choate. They looked nice and appeared to match the original forend. I know Surefire has a forend that mounts one of their lights as well. Due to the design of the 1201, extended magazines are not possible, but in my opinion aren't needed anyway. If you can't handle the problem with 6 rounds of 12 gauge buckshot, you have a bigger problem than any shotgun will solve. :D

Great! Thanks for the info. I will post a few pics when I pick it up in 10 dreadful days..
I will probably go ahead & get a ghost ring sight for it & remove the rear sight and fill in with dovetail blank. All in all I think I did pretty good at $350.00 for the shotgun & happy with it!!
Thank you.

Ahhh, the old 10 day wait. Must be in California. :D

I'll soon be going through that too with the new Colt XSE I bought.

Oh man, those ten day waits are bad, aren't they:banghead:
I agree, 2 3/4 loads are all you need, it wouldn't bother me a bit if mine was only chambered for the short shell.
You got a good price 45user. I took mine up to my bro-in-laws last weekend and compared it side by side with his benelli, they are alot alike.
Looking forward to those pics......tom

1201FP

Welcome to the High Road...

IIRC the barrel and forend need to be replaced with a Benelli model if you want to add the tac-light, something about the Beretta forend not lining up right...

The side saddle for the Benelli should fit fine, but remeber that the 1201FP is a recoil operated shotgun, and anything you add (weight) can cause the gun to no longer function correctly. Also, mine did not care for light Tac loads until it was very broken in (read several hunderd rounds).

As it sits now, it sports only ghost ring night sites and a Speedfeed IV stock with sling. It's broken in enough that most Tac loads work (it prefers Winchester over Federal), and I have no fears on it choking when I need it.

Good luck, I paid over $500 for mine a couple of years ago, and have recently seen them going for more...

got a beat up police 1201fp off auction arms for low 300...

first range day, it shot many diff. loads all without any malfunction...

then i just ordered this stock: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/bes9bemo12ta.html
shortened length of pull, and pistol stock, hard to go wrong for $29.

Midwayusa has 25%+ springs, and .tact' bolt lever (have them, but not installed).

Lastly, hard to beat a coat of duracoat.

(looking at choke options though, as pattern was fairly wide)

gbell - LeadPumper did yours come with the front sling mount?

Yup, I got it NIB with the front sling mount. It's really just a flat metal ring with a sling slot in one end. It does rotate freely as far as the barrel will let it, but it makes for a looong sling.

I have a 1200fp model- it was only available in 2 3/4" chamber. It sure kills clay birds but kickspretty fair. I compared it with my es-100 pintail and although they have practically the same action- the pintail is much easier on my shoulder. The FP still has achieved bedside throne status- because it works.

Thanks all for your replies. I have another question for you shotgun gurus. What makes the shotgun 3" chamber or 2 3/4" chamber? Is it the barrel? Is there a difference in barrel for diferrent chamber (3" vs. 2 3/4")?
Thank you for your help.

The chamber is where the shell rests. It's of larger dimensions than the bore. How deep it's cut determines what length shell it takes.

Another question for you all,
how can you tell the difference between 1200 & 1201? I am suspecting I may have a 1200fp instead of 1201fp  because all the pics I see of 1201FP is with 18" barrel...and take both 2 3/4" & 3" shells...mine says 2 3/4" on the barrel.
Probably seller's honest mistake if indeed it's a model 1200 :uhoh:

I bought a FP1200 in 98%+ condition i just orderd a pistol grip stock from CDNN does it cut down the recoil?

And how close is it to the one that comes with the super 90?

And how does the FP1200 rank as a combat shotgun"can it be droped in the mud wiped off and continue to function?

Werid quistions i know but as a Correctional officer and reserve deputy i may have to use it in any conditions.

The action is basically the same as the Benelli. There's no reason why the 1201 wouldn't be just as reliable.

It IS a Benelli !! Made by Benelli for Beretta [ Beretta owns part of Benelli ] I would repeat the warning about putting things like lights on a Benelli , it may cause malfunctions.

45User, I've added three accessories to my 1201FP. I've put on the Choate full length pistol grip stock. I love it, but I don't believe Choate still offers it. I've also added an oversized bolt handle and safety button. Those two accessories I purchased through Brownell's. I don't know if they're still offered. I believe the safety was compatible with the Benelli shotguns, too. I truly sleep better at night knowing the 1201FP is available for service. Here's a photo of the Beretta, along with an 870 I've had a little fun with.

45,
I have a military/tactical shotgun collection and have used them professionally for 40+ years. I have a couple of both varieties. I would suggest only two things:
1. Leave the receiver alone, if you must have extra ammo hung on the gun use a butt cuff, recoil operated guns are very sensitive to very small changes in receiver clearances, and just the small constriction caused by a saddle screw being tightened can have an adverse effect.
2. Hold the weapon firmly when shooting, the recoil action is also very sensitive to recoil resistence. Try to hold it the same way each time, and if you must fire from the hip, do not rely on any hand hold to provide the needed resistence, clamp the weapon between your body and arm as tightly as possible.
These are excellent weapons, if the recoil action is understood, are outstanding combat weapons. My favorite is the FP1200 which accepts only 2.75" shells.
