Aftermarket or used parts for 1201FP

 Did you ever get a good source for finding used or aftermarket parts? I am looking for a 26 or 28" barell that Beretta has discontinued but no joy on Google so far. Any suggestion?

looking for longer barell for 1201FP

I picked up a 1201FP for a steal a few years back, Great gun, once i figured out the secret of the button at the rear of the entry chamber.

Beretta has told me that they had made 26" and 28" barrels and mobile chokes for these in the past but cannot purchase them any more. Does anyone know where i can find these parts?

choate was the one that made the 1201FP and the 1200FP pistol grip stocks, if you phone them they still had a couple 6 months ago but where not listing them anywhere.... you had to phone to order.

as i recall, i used the factory bolt, and just trimmed the washer down a touch so it fits the new stocks channel...

Talk about raising the dead......

Anyway, wow, those are some nice looking shotguns. I just picked up a few Beretta 1200 FPs that were police trade ins, I believe they were from a SWAT unit.

The barrels, bores and actions look new but the exteriors show wear.
I pulled one out of the lot for personal use. They do function extremely well and I have had no trouble with either light or heavy loads that I have used.

Greetings and welcome 1201FP!

The 1201fp was a SD/police shotgun so it probably didn't have a rifled barrel for it, but you should research the Model 1201F which is the sporting version. IF a rifled barrel exists, then it will be found there.

You may also look for predecessor Model 1200s, these barrels may also fit but I'm only guessing.

(oh yeah, in the future, you may want to start your own post rather than "riding" this 2-year-old one! ;) )

Sorry for bring an old thread back to life but I have a question for you guys.

I am looking into buying a 1201FP with a 20" barrel and needs to know if it was made only in 2 3/4"chamber or 3"?

Also, I know the Benelli M1 S90 pistol grip butt stock is interchangeable with the 1201FP but what about the forend?

Will the M1 S90 forend fit the 1201FP?

Thank you in advance!

First, welcome to THR!

Second, my 1201FP will chamber both 2 3/4 and 3" cartridges. Haven't tried the 3" shells yet--I'm not that much of a glutton for punishment!

Do they even make that model anymore?

The 1201FP has been out of production since around the turn of the century. A shame; it's a great semi-auto shotgun that was very reasonably priced compared to the Benellis it closely emulates. It also has a quick cycling time and terrific reliability. Mine has digested a few hundred rounds of cheap bulkpack game loads already without a single problem.

Thanks Shear_stress for your post!

I was browing the gunbroker dot com and saw a seller has a 1200 and he mention its a 3" chamber also, so what's the difference between 1200 & 1201?

Thx

I'm not sure about the difference between the 1200 and 1201. There were field and riot versions of each. The differences I could find between the 1200 and 1201, at least for the field versions, the 1201 had spacers for the stock. Also, the 1201FP had a few more sight options than the 1200 riot.

Wow, this one still going?

I think that the difference between the 2 is that the 1201fp came with pistolgrip stock, extended mag tube and tritium rifle sites -although the ones for CA had standard stock.

I think the number was changed from 1200 to 1201 after the gun ban of 1994 that made features like a separate pistol grip illegal, etc. That was about the only difference I saw except the change of model #. I have the 1201 and the standard stock is much better for handling than the separate pistol grip deal even though that one looks more lethal. I love em. ;)

Hey all,

I just picked up a 1201FP and have procured a Choate pistol grip stock for it (both the shotgun and the stock should arrive tommorrow). I'm also picked up the oversized bolt handle and a sling for it. Now the purpose of my post - i'm looking to pick up some ammo for range use, and some defensive ammo.

I think i'm going to grab some Hornady TAP FPD 12GA 00 buckshot for the defensive loading, but am trying to decide on what range ammo to buy.

Any of you guys happen to know what a 'safe' load for reliability would be for the 1201FP that doesn't cost a buck a round? I'd like to buy 500 rounds or so for the range and ~250 defensive full power loads so I have a decent supply should I need it...but don't want to buy a bulk order of 500 rounds only to find that the shotgun doesn't cycle them cleanly.

Thanks for any info you guys might have.

I've owned a 1201fp and now own a 1200fp. The only real difference between the two is the barrel length and sight options. Both are tremendously reliable weapons, and are extremely lightweight.

Since it is recoil operated i only use full power magnum loads in mine. My preferred SHTF load is Remington 2 3/4" 12 pellet 00 buck.

I would test fire several reduced recoil type loads to see which of them will function (maybe they all will, depends how broken in YOUR particular SG is) before making any kind of mass or bulk purchase.

Where did you get the choate stock, and can you post a pic of it?

Just an update:

Bought the 1201FP over a year ago and finally was able to find a Benelli M1 S90 PG stock for a reasonable price and here's how she look right now:

I am thinking of adding ghost ring sight anybody knows which sight will fit the profile of the receiver?

Can I still able to find the original GR sight on the 18" barrel model?

I called and asked about the ghost ring sights and was told they don't have them anymore. Earlier this year, if you called Choate directly they still had some of their PG stocks available. I'll post pics. That benelli stock looks nice; what'd it cost?

Not sure if it fits or not but the LPA GR sight looks pretty close to those on the Benelli's here's a pic:

This sight can be found here: http://www.lpasights.com/catalog-shotgun.html

I was managed to find that slightly used M1 PG stock locally for $150 plus shipping if I am not mistaken the M1 and M3 butt stock is interchangeable while M2 and M4 has its own not sure about the fitment for the Nova though.

Just recently bought a 1201FP .found a 18'' with factory Ghost Ring sights NIB. Bought the M1 stock from Brownells. The stock new does not come with the sling plate, lucked out and found one for sale on the Benelli forum.

Did you ever find out about forend options? And can the safety be reversed?

price check: 1201 FP Police version

hello all,

Looking to figure out what my 1201FP Police version (factory pistol grip stock) is worth. 20" barrel, rear open rifle sight. It's in excellent condition and I've owned it since it was new in approximately 1994ish. I'm thinking around $800. Am I smoking something by thinking that?

Thanks,
Mark
