I'm trying to remove the hammer from a beretta model 21a, it appears to have one straight pin but it won't move. I don't want to beat it too much is there a better way to remove it?
Looks like a taper on part #23, it only removes one way. Have you already removed the Hammer Spring Guide Assembly (#3) to take the pressure off the pin?
Yes I removed the spring assembly all thats in the way is that pin and I'm not getting any movement out of it. I'm worried that I will damage the frame if I pound it anymore.
The hammer pin comes out from left to right. That means you have to work with the end that has the small end that the Thumb Safety detent works against.
Unfortunately these pins are sometimes tight and pounding on the tiny end is not an option.
We soak in Kroil overnight and use a punch the same size as the main body of the pin with a small hole drilled in the end to accomodate the tiny pin end.
I took one apart Friday but the pin just slipped out after I took out the Main Spring and Strut.
