Recently, I had the opportunity to shoot a Beretta 92 FS-C Type-M in 9mm. This model is no longer produced and had its original run in the mid-late 1980s (if my information is accurate). Supposedly very few were imported into the US but I can’t verify that other than with the fact that I’d never seen one until recently so it’s possible. The gun uses the typical 92 configuration with a few difference. The grip is slimmer than a standard 92 and uses single stack, eight round magazines. The frame, slide and 4” barrel are also much shorter than the standard 92. Beretta may have marketed this gun as compact but it really isn’t, it feels large in the hand and is relatively heavy. The action is double or single like a standard 92. The gun features the standard decocker and chamber indicator found on the standard 92 of that era.

When I received the gun it was dirty and bone dry. It didn’t appear to have been cleaned or lubed in some time. Being that I only had about an hour with the gun I opted to run it dirty and see how it performed. After a quick wipe down I shot 100 rounds of PMC Bronze 115g ammunition. With this ammunition the gun performed well and despite being dry/dirty only had 1 FTE and 1 FTF. I then switched to Independence 115g FMJ and shot an additional 100 rounds. This ammunition performed flawlessly despite the gun’s condition with no malfunctions.

I shot at distances of 25, 50 and 75 feet. At the 25 foot mark the gun was fairly accurate with my shooting ability which is probably average. When focusing the sites at 6:00 on the center of the target the gun shot high and left. Just to verify it wasn’t some strange quirk with my stance, grip or trigger press I had another gentlemen shoot it and it did the same thing for him. The sites are not adjustable. Perhaps things would be better if the gun were clean, lubed and had some better ammunition. At 25 feet the grouping was fairly consistent and only opened up slightly at 50 feet. At 75 feet the groups opened up considerably and I had several fliers at that distance. Again, that may just be my shooting ability, I am not nor do I claim to be an expert shooter or even a "good" shooter.

Overall the action on the gun was very smooth. I found the trigger to be prohibitively stiff in double action mode and was never sure when the hammer was going to fall. In single action mode the trigger was very light and consistent. The trigger reset in single action mode is very short and executes with a very audible click which you can very easily hear and feel.

Overall it’s a very nice gun to shoot and I’m sure it can perform even better when clean/lubed and in the hands of a more skilled shooter than me. Thanks for reading. If you have any questions post them up. I’ll try to have some photos a bit later.

Here are some terrible photos taken with my six year old Palm Treo 650. I wish I had some better quality photos to post up.

Wow... I have never seen one of those before. Very nice write up! Any chance you can buy this gun? I know I would jump at the chance. It seems very nice...

Clean and lube that pistol, shoot the heck out of it, you will love it. I have two of these, a G, and an SB.
I've never shot the SB, it looks brand new in the box. I shoot the G often, it's one of my commonly carried pistols. It's been flawless, never has had a failure of any kind.
Keep an eye out for magazines, they're hard to find, and expensive.

Unfortunately the gun isn't mine and the owner isn't going to part with it. :)

If I had more than hour with the gun I would have definitely given it a thorough cleaning. :)

Thanks for the photos and info, wrench!
