beretta 92(m9)

anybody have or used the beretta M9. im looking to buy and i just wanted to know what everybody thinks about them looks pretty nice, im not able to go and try it out so any info will be good.
tell about ammo, drawing, firing, anything you want, tell me what you like or dont like.

I like mine. It shoots better than I do (most pistols do). 9mm is the cheapest centerfire pistol round to shoot by far and still has enough punch to be used in a defensive role (if your into that). The sights are good, very reliable in my experience. Only thing I would consider changing/improving is the trigger, but that can be said of most factory guns.

Having been a duty sidearm to the armed forces and many other agencies for decades now, it's not like these aren't widely used and handled. I'll take a stab at a summary from my experiences:

Pros - Reliable, accurate, relatively durable and easy to maintain. Mild/moderate recoil in 9mm.

Con - Relatively large and heavy gun in relation to the 9mm round, wide grip to accommodate double stack magazine not as ergonomic as single stack autos in other calibers. DA/SA trigger is not the greatest.

Obviously, the cons/pros are often offsetting. I prefer a 1911 in .45, or a Sig or S&W auto in 9mm myself, but the Beretta does have it's virtues.

I have them, and love them. I shoot about 10K a year through them, and haven't had one go TU on me yet.

thanks all i do live in canada so im limited to 10 rounds in my mag either way so dbl or sigl stack doest really matter to me and it wont be a defense weapon

I'd get a Brigadier if you are going to shoot it a lot. The slide is a little heavier, and you can bang away a lot more with one before the wrist gets tired.

It should matter to you, as it dictates grips shape and size, and that dictates the comfort, controlability, accuracy and pleasure you are going to get out of the gun. Your hands may be so large that single stacks feel uncomfortably large, or small/normal and doubles feel too big. It is an important point to consider unless you can afford lots of handguns and how well an individual one works for you isn't that important.

If you find the grips too large, get Hogue Extreme Aluminum grips for it. They are much thinner than the factory grips. I have them on all my 92s.

It hasnt been in the military and law enforcement circle for the past 20 years for nothing. I like them a lot. Very accurate and reliable. The only downside is they are pretty big pistols. But that does help with recoil so its not a big downside.
