Good afternoon all. My problem is I have a beretta 92a1 and trying to develop a target load with titegroup and 147gr fmj. My load is 3.6gr at 1.09 oal with 12# hammer spring and 11# recoil spring I can’t seam to get 100% reliability say 5 out of 100 will bolt over bullet. Should I just try a different powder? Any help would be great.

thank you.

I have factory springs in my 92x Centurion.

It runs fine on a .356 147 gr coated bullet w/3.0 gr Titegroup.

But it's not very accurate. My barrel is picky. Part of the problem is the bore, like most M92's, is large. About .3565 best I can measure.

Some factory ammo is good, some is okay, but some is garbage for accuracy. Very picky barrel. I haven't decided what to do but I'll probably be shooting it less because I don't want to reload alot of 9mm.

So, I'm following your thread.

Try 4.3gr of WSF.
If accuracy is your goal, use the Hornady 147gr XTP. I
I suggest a 1.135” OAL
This is a PPC accuracy load. I’ve seen groups approaching 1.0”-5- shots @ 50yds. from match M1911’s.

Better yet, use the RMR 147gr Match Winner. $$$ Cheaper! Just as accurate.
You may find that your gun is better with 115-124gr bullets...
Hornady makes/sells .356” HAP bullets, sold in bulk.

I think Shivahasagun meant .356”, not .365”!
I had a Taurus PT99 that had a .358” bore. (Mod 92 clone).
I never shot any jacketed through it but .358” bullets were VERY accurate. However PPC rules prevented using it in regional or Nationals, so I traded it for a pristine 5906...
(Stock Service Semi-Auto class; make and model has to be listed in approved list).

You are at the Hodgdon maximum for Titegroup and doing maybe 900 fps.
A slower powder and a bit faster velocity is your best chance.

My Glock shooting friends and I have not had good function with low end 147 loads, although they shoot like a champ in 1911.

Hopefully, my notes will help you.

I just started developing reloads for a Beretta M9 that has been hanging out in the safe for seveal years now. The first test loads were using Xtreme's 147 gr. plated HP bullets loaded using different powders. I set the chronograph 10 ft. from the muzzle.

Load # 1 - 2.3gr of VV N310 powder showed an average of 671 fps for 5-rounds.
Load # 2 - 2.7gr of Bullseye resulted in an average of 674 fps for 5-shots.
Load # 3 - 2.7 gr of 700x was an average of 634 fps for 5-shots.

None of the 3 test loads cycled the slide using the factory recoil spring. The best group size were around 3/4-inch to 1-1/4 inches @ 50 ft. distance.

Since then, I changed out the factory recoil spring to a Wolff 9 lb. spring. I plan on increasing the load by .2 gr (for load # 2 and # 3) to test for reliable cycling an accuracy sometime in the next few weeks.
