Beretta 92c 9mm

My father just called me...he was at the gun shop and signed up for a CCW class and fell in love with a Beretta 92c 9mm (or he thinks that's what it was called). He wants me and him to test fire it since I'm the "firearms expert"

The gun is supposedly used with about 100 rounds through it and selling for $450 or something. I have not seen it. I don't know much about Beretta having never shot one. The salesman told him it was a "military" gun, whatever that means. Is this even a good deal, or should he just get a new Glock or something?

If its just a centurion ( compact slide/ barrel on full size frame) yeah the price is good. If its a Type L or Type M ( compact frame) its a steal.

The Beretta 92 has been the standard issue military sidearm since 1985. The c is a compact version. The standard 92 is battle testes and a reliable gun. Not as sure about the C but it should be fine. While I'd trust a Beretta if issued one it wouldn't be my first choice if spending my money. If he likes it, I'd bet it is a good gun a d the price seems fair

There are different variations of the 92 Compacts. The newest one is a double stack, 92FS Compact L on a shortened M9A1 frame. I have one, and it shoots very similarly to my full size 92FS. It has a shorter barrel and slide and shorter grip which holds 13 rounds. They are a bit bulky for CCW, but like anything, can be carried with a good belt and holster and some planning in wardrobe.

There are also single stack, slimmer version designated 92FS Compact L, Type M. If you can find out what model it is, that would help, but they are all good, accurate, reliable guns. I don't like the style of the safety so only use it as a decocker.

My father has had a 92compact for about 15 years now. It's every bit as high quality as the full sized gun. It has a shorter grip, and I think it has the Centurion length barrel. Otherwise it's the same.
It's as accurate and reliable as you would expect a member of the 92 family to be.

If it is an earlier 92C and not a 92FC variation, the pistol is a very rare bird, not many were imported.
Identifiers are the rounded trigger guard, left side only decocking lever, and they usually came with wooden grips. @ $450 it would be a decent buy.

It means that it is the compact version of the standard US Military issue sidearm

The Beretta 92c is much more gun than any Glock...the only real concern is for folks who found it too large for their hands; or who used the military issued magazines.

These Berettas are some of the most reliable handguns on the market and everyone I've shot has been very accurate
