If anyone can point me twoards a good, reliable online store that has a brand new unfired Beretta 92FS 9mm in blue finish for sale, I would be eternally greatful. I myself have looked for ages and can't find one.

And no, please don't offer me yours for sale, because I only order brand new unfired guns from professional companies online. That's just me.

But another issue is the "9mm". People won't shut the hell up about the 9mm caliber's "uselessness" and unability to stop an attacker, and the good old ".45 > 9mm" crap. Anyone care to beat down those sayings?

Haha. Impact is my main gun store I buy from. They don't have any in stock right now though.

Yeah, a quote from a Navy SEAL is "When I put two rounds through your heart and one through your head, you're not gonna know the difference."

Me, I absolutely love my 2 Beretta 92's...one FS & one Centurion. As a matter of fact, I have the most rounds through my Centurion than any other gun I have.
Now as for 9mm. You know, I just looked at my collection and I noticed I have 3 45's and 7 9mm's  Do I feel secure w/ 9mm...yes. Do I really care about what other people think about the round?...no. But really, I haven't had to defend the round for a long time. Couple a good platform and good modern defensive ammo and you should end up w/ great performance! ;)

Sweeeeet. I've been wanting a 92FS for quite some time now. I just haven't found a professional company [not even a non-professional company] that has them in stock.:fire:

Hijack

I heard some people swap springs in the beretta 92's to make the DA less of a bear, anyone know what they are doing?

Yeah man, that's what I was originally going to do, but what do ya know, not one local gun store carries one of the most popular handguns on earth, nor can they special order them at this time. *Sigh* =/

U don't have a nearvy gun show you can attend?

I have seen new ones as low as $450 at the past couple of Houston gun shows.

They are putting a reduced weight 1911 mainspring in place of the Beretta main spring. Along with some tweaking, polishing and an over-travel stop on the trigger things can vastly improve. Now, should you do this? There are competition Berettas, Sigs, etc out there that much like my 625 revolver are game only guns or should be. Why? Because at a certain point you get guns that will not reliably ignite all ammo, so you end up with game guns shooting only Federal primer reloads. For me, if I am going to play the game it is worth it, a 6lb DA pull is nice no matter where you find it. For carry guns, I will heavy things up if anything. I am not adverse to polishing and smoothing, but they have to fire. Example is my 325 revolver. While it's big brother is spring lightened and such this one has a Wolff mainspring that coupled with the extended firing pin pretty near drives the primer out the other side of the flash hole. No worries on failure to ignite there, which is more than I can say for it when it was box stock.

A lighter 1911 mainspring can be used or the stock Beretta 92 D model mainspring as well....which is their double action only model that comes with the lighter spring in it. I got them for around $2 or so each. It makes the trigger lighter and a little easier to manage. Here's a thread off the BerettaForum.net site.

Here's a link to show how to change the spring out.

It's the D-model spring. You can get it from Beretta USA for $2.24, shipped.

After you get the 92FS, you'll want an Elite II.

what about 22 cal?

:D what's the fuss about calibers. they all do the same thing, just some a little faster than others. me i don't want to be on the learning end of any of them. one of my bud's has the elite 2. mmmmmmmm nice!

Which brings up another thing, roughly how many .22 rounds would it take to equal a 9mm round in terms of power?
