My father just gave me a shotgun marked Beretta AL2-12 gauge MAGNUM on the receiver that has a 30 inch full choke barrel on it. I would like to find a barrel more suitable for upland game and am not having much luck. I would sure appreciate any information and or opinions on this gun and any help on places that might have barrels.

Thanks, Max

Welcome to the High Road,

Beretta made these shotguns from 1973-75. They had 2 barrel lengths, 28" and 30". They either had a mod or full choke also. I believe they were the predecessor of the 303 versions which were a very nice shotgun. I have never handled one so can't give an opinion other than most Berettas are very good guns.

That is the gun I learned to shoot- still have it. Barrel interchange is as follows: any a300,301,302 ( browning b-80), 303 or 304 WILL fit- that said, the 300 only came with a fixed choke, the 302 came with a drop in choke called the "international" style- but the browning badged B-80 (made by beretta) has the invector stlye chokes- win/moss/browning/weatherby notably, the 303 came with the mobilchoke which is what you are looking for, 24" to 32" barrels were available - I know this because I have them :) The 24 were hard to come by for me- took a few years to come by one, but the 26-28 are often listed on ebay- The browning B-80 barrel is stamped with the PB circled emblem on the bottom side and it will work just like it was made for the shotgun- I use one on a 20ga AL-2 magnum model. The 12ga models are really reliable - haven't shot the 20ga 5k+ rounds like the 12 so I can't contest to the reliability of the 20's- but the AL-2 berettas are excellent - make sure to remove and oil the bolt recoil buffer spring in the stock- it kinda gets rusty after a decade or so ;)

Beretta AL2

I have an AL2 in new condition if anyone is interested in owning this Fine Firearm.
