I recently picked up a used Beretta PX4 full size. Have not shot it yet, but now ive seen they have the APX. Im curious on how the grip feels between the 2. I'll doubt I'll run across an APX to hold for awhile. Judging by the pics, the APX looks a little more streamline and ergonomic than the Px4. I kinda do like small grips. Plus the APX looks like it has a way shorter trigger pull. I've come across them for $350 ish new and wouldn't picking one up.

I don't own one, but have handled the Beretta APX. It has a great grip design, with good texture, and is small hand friendly.

I had a guy on another forum with an M9A3, PX4, and APX take some measurements for me. My standard measurement is from backstrap, around the trigger face, and back to the backstrap showing the full circumference of the grip area for trigger reach.

The M9A3 was 7 1/16", the PX4 (full size) 7 1/4", and APX 6 13/16".

He also took a caliper measurement from backstrap to trigger face

M9A3 2.89", PX4 2.94", APX 2.83".

These are all measurements to the double action trigger reach for the M9A3 and PX4, and the M9A3 has the Vertec grip and the PX4 with the medium backstrap, also medium for the APX.

Let me add, the APX slide is thick relative to the grip.

I'm sure it is something that you'd get used to very quickly if you owned the gun, but when you first pick it up, it is an odd feeling.

I’ll admit that I’m not familiar with the APX (and I’m not taking the time to look it up!j, but I’ll just point out that one of the things I love about my PX-4 is the rotating barrel lock up. It provides the least recoil of any 9mm I’ve ever fired (including Glocks, Sigs, other Berettas, Walthers, Rugers, S&W, Steyer...and more). So I would just say that grip comfort (and I like PX-4 just fine) is only part of the story...how well you shoot the gun is what really counts!

I have the small back strap on mine. It feels alright. I may have to put talon grip on it, I do seem to notice if your hands are little oily, sweaty or greasy it's not as grippy as others I've held. Just wish it was a little smaller on the grip overall. The APX has little dips on each side of the grip to give your hand somewhere to drop into it.

I have a PX4 compact and an APX. It really depends if you want a striker fired gun or a DA/SA gun.

Between the two, I like the APX better. The PX4 grip is rather slippery. The trigger on the APX is better than on a Glock. I have a Centurion APX, and it is very accurate.

I have preferred DA/SA guns for over a decade. I got the APX for $267 last June after the rebate. It kinda got me back into striker fired guns again. Now, I have a Shield and a new Glock 48.

I've seen the Centurion, what's the difference? Seems like full size frame with a shorter barrel? But right looks like im sold on getting one. I wish those rebates would come back around

I don't think it is a fullsize frame per se, because the fullsize version has 17 round mags.

They lowered the price of the gun, so I do not see rebates coming back. But, we'll see.

I looked at the compact, centurion and fullsize. The Centurion seemed to balance the best to me.

APX is a solid, reliable, well made gun being sold for criminally cheap these days. I find the grip more pleasing to my hand than PX4 (and I like the PX4) and it has a very nice striker trigger, made better with the competition striker spring, available for pretty cheap (I think $6 on Beretta's website).

Couple issues I have with mine are the sights, something odd with the sight picture and the dots being different color throws off my aim a small bit and

This. Doesn't bother me with balance or shooting but for a carry gun the extra wide slide does make for significantly more printing on the corner than my Glock 19, at the rear edge it's as fat as a Glock 21.

Still relatively easy to carry, but certainly an annoyance.

Also, holsters aren't all that plentiful, though my Muddy River Tactical is quite nice.

I do see prices all over the place, from $500-600 on the known gun vendors but look on armslist I see a ton forsale from dealers for almost half. I'll be picking one up soon then. Kinda torn between a full size and a Centurion if it's a slightly smaller setup.

Think of the Centurion=G19 and the full size =G17

I bought one of each due to the cheap pricing--haven't shot them yet because I didn't have any ammo------now that I have ammo, I think I'll hang on to it until things get a little less crazy out there.

That said, its a first rate handgun being sold for a little more than the cheap S&W SD9 in going for---actually I've seen the SD9 priced higher now that I think about it. Beretta was late to the party with a striker fired gun---so no sure how long that price will stay once they move some units---but the APX is easily comparable to a Glock or M&P and I own those also.

I had the occasion to shoot the first APX arrived in town: not impressed at all. The trigger was terribile, the sights seemed painted by a drunk person with a nail brush. Grip is pretty good in my opinion and it shoots soft but the 15 yards group was barely acceptable probably due to the very bad trigger. Slide serrations are poor with sweaty or wet hands.
For 350 dollars is a good gun.

I have the opposite opinion. To me, the trigger is much better than a Glock trigger. And, i find the gun very accurate - However, I did not like the factory sights. I ordered some Ameriglo sights from Beretta and had Beretta USA put them on. Now, the gun is fantastic

I have the opposite opinion as well. The trigger for a striker fired gun is exceptional. Smooth all the way to the break and then very clean tactical break at 6lbs if pull. And could shoot it with excellent results to 25 yds easy. Reset is about 3mm. A gun that is very easy to shoot well. The Serrations are well done and very functional. Did not like the smooth grip and worked much better with grip tape. The APX like most Beretta's is well made, solid. Top notch performer. That said, I prefer the PX4 carry.

What is it that you like more about the Px4?

My PX4 compact is a good gun, but it is probably my least favorite gun I own. Not saying I hate it - Just that I like all my other guns more.

That being said, it is the 4th PX4 I have owned over the years. I have had 2 fullsize 9mms, a 40 cal PX4, and now this compact 9mm PX4. The compact is the only PX4 I currently own.

I'm with you, my Centurion is very accurate with a very good trigger (even better with the competition striker spring) held back by the poor sights. I can make do but ultimately I shoot my Glocks better.

But for a $350 gun it's wonderful.

FWIW, I ordered an APX a couple of days ago, $322 including a bonus 21-round factory extended magazine from Gun Pro. I am not a fan of polymer pistols, but I do like Berettas and was in the market for a 9mm, so at that price....

That's what the backstraps are for... Put the large backstrap on, and that will no longer be the case.

PS--Anyone have any APX holster recommendations, especially OWB?

I have an IWB Kydex holster from Muddy River Tactical, it's good.

I believe they make OWB holsters as well.

Mag carriers are a little tricky because of the odd triangle nub on the mags, but mine fit perfect in the Glock Sport belt magazine carriers for the 26/19/17 etc, which is nice because they are some of my favorites.
