beretta cocked and locked?

Do any of the beretta's allow cocked and locked carry? If so which ones.

If you're referring to the 92 types, not anymore. The first models had a frame mounted safety that allowed cocked and locked carry.

If you're interested in a 92 type gun that allows cocked and locked, look at the Taurus PT9x series, such as the PT99. They're made in Brazil on the original style Beretta machinery.

I used to have a pt92afs. It was a nice reliable pistol. I could not hit a damn thing with it so I traded it for an AK that I no longer have either. I wish I had it around still as my auto pistol skills were pretty weak back then.

What I want is a vertec but would like c&l as an option. I could live without it. I also vastly prefer frame mounted safeties but I do have some slide mounted safeties.

The 9000S have the "Taurus-like" three-way safety that'll do cocked and locked or DA/SA with the improvement that de-cock is up past safe whereas the Taurus system decock is down past fire which can cause problems for shooters that ride the safety with the thumb.

I know Skunk got his Vertec modified to have it C&L.

If you can do that to a standard Vertec, I'd assume that the mod's available for all 92s.

The all steel 92 had a conventional frame safety so you could carry it cocked and locked.

On any normal 92 or Vertec, cocked and locked is as simple as removing the decocking lever from the lockwork and replacing it with the 92 DAO part or a modified lever, or a spacer. Very simple to do and allows the standard slide mounted safety to function without decocking the pistol.

One older model...The Beretta 84BB AKA Cheetah

was also a "cocked and Locked" carry... Nice gun, in .380ACP, 13 +1 Mag where allowed. Was my BUG for years, and now is main CCW as 9MM Luger was restricted for carry in this part of the world. :banghead:

The newer version 84FS now has a decocker.

Nice tip! but is there an active safety with this set up? I mean is there anything that disengages or blocks the trigger?

The 92/96 Steel I has a frame mounted safety. It's a heavy, all steel, gun with an asking price of over a grand.

BevrFevr, When you do the mod you are still left with two safeties: 1. firing pin safety, which requires trigger to be pulled aft to remove firing pin block and 2. The slide mounted safety, which makes it impossible for the hammer to strike the firing pin. With the safety on you can drop the hammer with the trigger , but it won't fire. It is similar to the DAO setup, but includes single action cocked and locked as an option.

Another thing to try is using a 19lb hammer spring from a 1911 in the 92/Vertec. You will find the double and single action pull move to a very sweet range.
