I was wondering if you could carry a Beretta 92 cocked and locked? It has an external hammer and it has an external safety, so can it be carried this way? Not interested in buying one or anything, just wondering.

Answer for Taurus PT92

Can't answer the Beretta question, specifically, but I have a Taurus PT92 which is the Beretta's kissin' cousin. The answer is....

Yes, it "can" = the pistol has the ability to do so
No, you should not = the manual says "thou shalt not" unless you are a LEO where you may need the pistol immediately. I am paraphrasing; the manual is NOT in front of me.

So, while it can be carried that way, it's not really recommended to be carried that way.

It's a lawsuit preventor, I'm sure...

Q

mostly no a few were made with frame mounted safetys but most hafe slide mounted decocking safety.meaning when you put safety in the on position the hammer drops. though you can carry with hammer down with safety off and hammer down.

On Beretta Model 92 series pistols (made after the early-80s), when the safety is engaged, the external hammer automatically de-cocks.

Only expections are the single-action only Model 92s and the Model 92s made in the mid-70s, those had a frame mounted safety & the european heel magazine release.

The Taurus PT-92/99/100 series are Brazilian clones of the Model 92F which have a frame mounted safety and thus you could carry those cocked & locked.
