Beretta Cx4 Storm 9mm Carbine?

I am considering a Beretta 9mm carbine for target fun and possible home defense, however, I have never fired one or even held one for that matter.

None of my local gun store's stock these,special order only.

How accurate?
How reliable?
Thoughts on this carbine?

My buddy has one. Very accurate, very reliable, not cheap. If I had the spare change I would get one. Since I'm a poor teacher, I got a Hi-Point 995 instead. It's just as reliable and accurate, but it only has 10 round mags. Oh, did I mention I got it for less than half the price of his Beretta? I love my 995, but if you can afford one, get the Storm.

I purchased one of the early CX4 storms, it failed on me twice, I can't remember exactly what broke as this was quite a few years ago but I had to ship it back to Italy for repairs, it took quite a while to get it back. The rifle was fun but I had to get rid of it as I couldn't shoot it at 50 yards, I traded it in on a Bushmaster XM15 and a sig mosquito. If you can shoot this carbine on 15-25 yard range it will be a blast, if you'll be shooting it at a true rifle range then do not bother with a CX4. The Hi-point is knockoff garbage in comparison, don't touch it with a 10 ft pole.

Mine shot great. I sold it to a buddy to help finance an AR 9MM. He loves the CX4.

I bought one and even bought an Eotech - I sold it after the 1st trip. I didn't like it as much as my PS90, and the trigger was WAY too heavy when new.

At 50 yards, I can get 1/2" groups with my PS90 - and it is a bullpup with a so-so trigger. With the CX4, I couldn only get 4" groups - because of the heavy trigger.

Otherwise, gun worked 100%

Hmmm....I'm guessing you don't own one. I do, and everyone I know or have spoken to that does have one loves them.

I'd put my Hi-Point against a CX4 anyday. You can't shoot +P through a CX4 which speaks to it's barrel quality. I have not been impressed with the accuracy I've seen with any CX4. My Hi-Point shoots one hole at 25 yards.

The Hi-Point is American made and they have some of the best customer service in the industry. There are police departments that issue them as "trunk guns".

They are inexpensive, they may even be "cheap" but they are certainly not garbage.

my dad has one and i love it, i like it so much that i am still trying to figure out a way to get it from him, he likes ot too. they are accurate enough out to 25yds that is as far as i have shot it, his has been 100% reliable, and of the people that i know that have them or have used them they have been the same.


if i had the extra cash i would get one, but for what you said, range use, i wouldn't use it for hd. why? because if you are gonna use a gun that size it might as well be a rifle. well that is imho of course.

I have one and love it
got it used on a whim and find it to be highly accurate and though the trigger is not great it is serviceable and consistent
for a fun gun i could not ask for more and it was my go to gun for HD until i got my AR carbine

I've got the cx4 and love it. Very reliable and accurate. I even run plus p thru mine from time to time. The manual doesn't forbid plus p. I like that it shares the same magazine as my px4. That said, a buddy has the hi-point. Accuracy and reliability are pretty much the equal of my cx4 and it's a whole lot cheaper.

The fit and finsish of the hi point is not as nice but IMO the Berreta is not really worth the extra money. The high point functions every bit as well. Its biggest draw back is that it only has 10 round mags (the 15 round promags are garbage).

The highpoint, an ati stock, a red dot and enough ammo to become proficent in using it can be had for the price of the Berreta.

That said I prefer the Kel Tec sub 2000 w/a glock grip to both. I like having 33 round magazines. I love that I can easily slip it (and a half dozen 33 round mags) into a computer bag folded. To me a pistol caliber carbine is mostly a just for fun plinker and the Sub 2000 fills that role well. For home defense I would rather have one of my carbines in a rifle round or my shotgun.

Never shot the CX4 but I like the Hi-Point 995 and the Kel-Tec Sub 2000. I highly doubt a CX4 can outshoot my Sub since mine gets 4-6 MOA at 100 yards with good ammo.

I have a CX4 and have never had a problem to speak of. The one part that broke was replaced free with a simple phone call.

It is accurate and works well out to 150yds.

I had a chance to put a few magazines through one a few years ago. It didn't like me very much, and kept slapping me in the cheek. Kind of like some of my past dates. The owner loved it, however. Ask around your area and see if anyone owns one that you can try out for yourself. It'd be a shame to put down the money and end up not liking it.

My favorite 9mm carbine is a Colt 6450, but those are more expensive.

I've had mine for over a year now and I really like it.
It's never failed me and the wife unit likes shooting it as well.
If you can get a decent price on one (or a lightly used one like I did) go for it.
You can polish up the trigger surfaces pretty easy to help the trigger out.

If you have facial hair, you'll hate it. The seam where the cheekpad meets the plastic stock likes to pluck follicles from one's face. I sold mine not too long ago after it spent four years in the safe.

They are fun, but definitely not worth their ridiculous price.
