I was given a Beretta Mod 84 and the hammer will not fall when the trigger is pulled. I field stripped the pistol, removed the grips and I can see that trigger bar is not hitting the disconnector allowing hammer to fall. When I add a “shim”, the trigger drops the hammer as intended. I am not familiar with this model or any of the Beretta lines of pistols. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated!!!

The shim you installed....is this located to push the bar inward like the grip is supposed to do? Are the grips stock? The tab that holds the trigger bar is shiny on the outside like it's been rubbing on the inside of the grip. Is the rivet holding the tab loose? Somehow either the grip is supposed to be pushing that bar inward or it's loosened and allowing the trigger to miss the sear.

With no grips on, I dropped the shim in from the right side of the gun to test. The bar is completely flush with the frame without the grips on. The rivet is not loose.

Stock grips.

Mag Safety it is!!! Thanks guys for all the help. One thing I love about the high road is that no one is ridiculed for not knowing something which is “simple”. I really appreciate it!
